You decide to ignore your gut instincts. You never trust them any way. In hindsight, perhaps you should have. You walk up to the rift, and reach a shaking hand out to touch it. As soon as your fingers touch it, a ripple reverberates from the surface, like touching the surface of a pond. Yet as soon as it reaches the edges, it bounces back. Too much in shock and awe, you fail to remove your hand, and when the ripple hits the point of origin, it suddenly engulfs your finger. You try to pull away, grunting from the effort, but you cal feel something pulling you, and it's much stronger than you.
You try to plant your feet, but your shoes don't gain much traction on the sidewalk. Horror and fear engulfs you as the rift consumes more and more of you. Even as your arm is pulled the rest of the way in, your desperately trying to to call for help. You pull fruitlessly, and as soon as the toes of your shoes hit the rift, the strength of the pull doubles. You manage to yell out a single "Help me!" before you are almost instantly drawn into it.
You come to in the middle of a room with stone walls and no windows. Large bookcases line these walls, along with medieval style tapestries. In front of you, there is a large, medieval style wooden door, but between you and it stands a tall lanky man. He where's his black hair long and greasy. His face is clean shaved, except for the mustache and goatee that line his mouth. He is wearing a long, flowing, crimson colored wizards robe with various designs inlaid within. Holding to the typical Evil wizard stereotype, the man gripped a pedestal standing in front of him, grinning madly. You wandered vaguely why the pedestal looked like a kneeling nude woman, holding a book open on her shoulders.
"Ah, welcome to my Lair. I see you, too find the allure of my gateway irresistible. Fear not. Your not the first!" He spoke quickly and excitedly. You stare at him, a bit in fear, and more in confusion. "Ah, forgive me, where are my manners! I am Lord Veccar, Magus Supreme of these lands I call my home. And you would be?"
