Of course you had not simply wished for the women on the beach to become mermaids,
you had wished for the beach to be a mermaid colony! The ground level of the beach
sank, leaving only a few spots of sand and rock for the mermaids to sun themselves, then
came several coral reefs that formed out a bit further out for protection, the life guard
tower vanished. Next, houses form underwater for the new mermaids, made of stone,
coral, and anything else that could exist practically underwater.
A sign appeared on the sidewalk with the words, 'Mermaid Colony SeaGrove population:
57' there was also a smaller chart below added apparently as an after thought that
described the mermaids migration cycles that the colony was effectively deserted.
You were also surprised by the sudden appearance of several men, along with children
with webbed feet and gills along their sides in swim suits, many of the men talking about
how they were thinking of becoming sailors since it would enable them to see their wives
more than six months out of the year. This went doubles for the children, some of whom
wondered why they hadn't been born full mermaids like some of their sisters.
You are reminded of how Coyote said that the changes made by the pendant created
ripples so insure they fit within the space time continuum.
