The ferry was already quite crowded with guys around there age, but there was also younger boys who looked like they were still in high school. The boys all laughed and talked as the ferry moved silently through the late night fog. “How far away is this place?” Miles asked, trying to be loud enough to be heard over the crowd. Chased shrugs and leans over one side of the boat to look ahead. “I can’t see anything,” he shouts, “to foggy and too dark.”
An hour goes by and the boys on the small vessel start getting a little rowdy. A few fights even break out on the deck. “Man, I didn’t think it would take this long,” Chase groans and leans up against the railing. Then suddenly, a loud whistle blows. All the boys rush to edges of the boat to get a glimpse, but it’s far to dark to see.
Then, a small bit of land becomes visible, followed by a massive dark cavern in the side of cliff. Two massive spot lights shoot from the top of the ship and light up the cavern in front of them. The ferry slows a bit as the boys watch the night sky disappear above them.
Inside the cave, massive rock formations hang from the ceiling and waves splash up on the cave wall. “This is amazing,” Josh laughs as the boat’s engines stop completely. It drifts through the cavern a bit more, and then the lights go out. A glow comes from in front of them and all the boys hang off the edge to see.
The ferry exits the other side of the cavern into the basin of a massive crater. Not far from the front of the ship, bright lights filled their view. Roller coasters wrapped all around, and several Ferris wheels spun with light effects dazzling the eyes. Other tall rides filled the horizon and a resounding cheer came from the boys on board.
“This is it,” a boy yelled out, “we’re here,” called another. The ferry came to a quick stop, sending the boys forward slightly, and the gangways all released them to the dock. The flood of boys spilled out onto the dock, some even getting pushed into the water. Josh, and his friends did there best to stay together, but got separated in the rush.
Josh just continued his way with the crowd to the massive gates leading into the park. The welcoming sign of “Pleasure Island” over head separated by a giant image of a donkey’s head with a massive smile. Josh couldn’t help but smile back and cheer along with the other boys.
