Mark and Max were laying on the couch faces up. Both of them are used
to sleeping on their sides, but they quickly came to the conclusion
that it was very awkward for them to sleep how they usually do. So,
they are just laying there counting the minutes go by.
"Hey Mark, you still up?" Max softly spoke.
"Yeah, wide awake." Mark sighed.
Max turned his head to Mark's. He could barely make out his brother's
head in the darkness. "I've been thinking. If the Santa guy can't
unjoin us, we're probably going to be spending the rest of our lives
like this."
Mark then turned his head towards Max's and swallowed hard. He then
wrapped his arm around their chest in a hug, "Look Max...you shouldn't
think about things that aren't going to happen. That Santa guy will
fix this, and we won't have to share a body ever again."
Max's voice cracked a little, "Mark, its not that I don't like sharing
a body with you. I really think its pretty cool to be this close, but
its how Jenifer will react that bothers me. I really think I am in
love, and if we can't separate....I'm afraid she will reject me."
Mark then hugged a little tighter, "Max, I have to tell you something.
I have been a little jealous with all the time you have been spending
with Jenifer. But now I can see, and feel, that you truly do love her.
I am sure that she feels the same way. And, if we end up being stuck
like this, I am positive she will not reject you."
Max let a tear fall from his eye and hit the skin between their necks,
"Thanks Mark."
Mark, in a lighter tone, replied, "Hey man, we're twins. We always
have to look after each other. Just remember, though, I expect you to
give me the same pep talk when I meet a girl I love!"
Max had a huge smile on his face now, replied, "You can count on it!"
They high-fived, and then fell asleep soon after.
