Alex could only stare in awe. His mom was utterly changed...without a sign or memory of who she had been just moments before. To her knowledge...and to everyone else in the world, she was Lisa, a sixteen year old high school student just like him.
Alex suddenly remembered she'd spoken to him and nervously cleared his throat, "I don't know, what would you like to do?"
Lisa smiled, crossing her arms over her chest, "Oh, come on Alex. You were the one who invited me over!"
Alex frowned. He certainly hadn't done this...but it must be something the machine automatically programmed into her new memories. He smiled quietly, "Well I was thinking of watching a movie, is there anything on?"
"I don't know. Come sit with me and we'll take a look!" She patted beside her on the bed. Alex felt his heart catch in his throat. His mom wanted him to sit beside her. Alex hesitated only a moment longer, then climbed up on his sister's bed and carefully sat down a foot or so away from his Mom...er...Lisa.
She grinned, giggling softly, and suddenly she reached over and tugged him right against her. "Don't sit way over there silly! You can sit next to me!"
Alex quietly obliged could hardly believe the way she was acting, but then again, he'd programmed her to be like any sixteen year old girl. As his Mom...Lisa, began to check through the channels, he tried to keep his eyes on the TV, but they inevitably fell on the girl sitting beside him. She was beautiful, the most beautiful girl he'd ever seen. Her hair was long brown, rolling down to her shoulders and around a lightly ovular face centered around a small, slightly curved nose. her eyes had lightened and brightened with youth, turning a deep cinnamon brown.
He'd seen pictures of his mom...when she actually was in high school, but actually standing there next to her, with her dressed in more modern clothes... Alex could only feel his natural tendencies stir. No...this was his mom he was thinking of...but...then again, she wasn't anymore. Alex decided to try something...slowly, he stretched his arm to gently drape around her shoulder.
Lisa did not shy away, she snuggled closer against him. "Mmm, your nice and warm Alex." She wiggled her toes beside his, giggling as she gazed up at him, "You know...its weird, but I feel like I've known you a lot longer than I have. I mean sure, we went to school together and all...but it feels like I knew you for another lifetime even before that, you know."
"I guess so," Alex gulped.
She turned off the TV and put down the remote, turning slightly to face him, she began to creep her fingers up his shirt. Alex found himself gazing into those soft hazel orbs, those eyes who had looked upon him with scorn in the past now stared in quiet love on him, love far different then the motherly short. "Why don't we get more comfortable, hmm?"
