Kate bounced down the steps pushed by unseen hands. Thud, thud, thud, thud - her feet sounded as they fell to the next step. She was standing stiff like a mannequin, but still she was moving toward her unwanted date.
"Honey, you mustn't keep Ali waiting," Kain's father said.

The young man standing with his back to her turned as she reached the bottom stair. He was less cartoony, and a lot less blue. Ali was the genie in human form. Kate's mouth hung open, but she still couldn't speak.
"Aw, that's right laryngitis," Ali said, "You don't need to say a word. I'll take care of ordering dinner."
His arm slid under hers and he guided her out to his Bugatti. She was helpless to resist.
"No curfew!" shouted Kate's dad from the doorway, "Stay out as late you like."
As they pulled away from the curb, the genie laughed, "I know you were expecting one of your five nightmare guys, but I haven't been laid in over 1000 years. So I figured why not kill two birds with one stone.
