At first you thought that staying awake would be a problem, but you soon find out that the last thing you have to worry about. You huddle up inside the cage, leaning your back against the crates as you feel your body heat rising. It feels like you are going to burn up. As if the fever wasn’t enough your whole body feels sort of itchy and all the bones inside your body hurt, especially your arms and legs. You collapse on the cage floor begin to wriggle around and groan as the pains become worse. This continues for several hours into the night, but then it’s suddenly almost completely stops. At that time you are so numb from the pain that you don’t have the power to move. You lie on your stomach, trying not to sleep for the rest of the night.
Suddenly the lights in the room are turned on and the door opens. A man and a woman, both wearing lab coats walk into the room. They both walk up to your cage and open it. “Ok, it’s time to get out…” You refuse to move, you won’t leave voluntarily. When the man sees that you don’t try to get out he grabs one of your legs and begin to pull you out of the cage. You try to resist, but you’re too weak to do anything about it. The two lab assistants help you to stand and walk. “Holy shit! The nanomechanics are really effective! All this happened during just one night?” The man says. “Yeah, but the process can be speeded up if you double the dose of both DNA and nanomechanics then the process will only take 2-3 days. Well at least in theory. Dr. Bergström wanted to prove that theory on this subject and he applied for permission to do so, but I don’t know if it was approved” You lift your head weakly and look at your arms and legs, you notice that they are covered by thin layer of hair. But you’re a bit too tired to really react to the new information. When the three of you comes out to the room from yesterday, the two of them begins to undress you. You feel that it’s quite useless to resist and you also know that you can’t resist, even if you wanted to. You look up at the benches were the scientists were sitting yesterday, at the time being the benches are empty but maybe that will change. When you’re totally naked the two lab assistants grabs your arms and legs and lifts you up on the table. Then they spread your legs apart and strap you to the table.
“Wow she’s almost as easy to deal with as she was yesterday when we drugged her in her sleep” The woman nods her head as she begins to walk away and the man follows him. “Well now she’s probably tired, when the nanomechanics work a lot of heat is released and I’ve have heard that it’s extra painful to transform into such a small breed as she’s transforming into. So I don’t think she got much sleep” As the two lab assistants walk out of the door, the room begins to be filled by scientists. You look down at your body and you gasp as you see that the hair wasn’t restricted to your arms and legs. Your whole body is cowered with it. After a couple of minutes the benches are filled. The microphone voice starts to speak and explains how your transformation is going. You don’t understand half of it as most explaining is done by different scientific terms you have never heard of. But soon the speech is over and the Tibetan spaniel is brought in again. The procedure is repeated, it isn’t half as bad as the first time. But it’s still disgusting and humiliating.
Afterwards when you have been brought to the shower room by the same lab assistant as yesterday you suddenly see the changes that you didn’t notice before. You realise how much hair that you have grown, not even your face have been untouched by the hair. “Oh” you whine in misery. “I…I’m really changing, don’t I?” The lab assistant nods in agreement from the same spot as he stood yesterday, leaning against the shower room wall. “That’s right” You suddenly understand that the zoo woman wasn’t crazy, or maybe she was but she was right about one thing. You are going to become a dog and live as one for the rest of your life. You feel the tears roll down your chin. You feel your legs weaken and you drop down on your knees and burrow your face into your hands. The hot water continues to shower down your back. You feel a hand that clearly wants to help. “Hey… it won’t be that bad. I mean, I had a friend who went trough the same thing as you do now. He find out some things that wasn’t meant to be found out” You look up at the lab assistant who’s now standing next to you. “Why? Why couldn’t you have stopped it?”
“Because if I had tried to stop it, I would just end up joining him as a dog. They used him to develop a way to change males, before we could only change females. Anyway to come to the point of this story, when his changes were complete he seemed happy enough and he was definitely not sad. So maybe, just maybe you will end up liking it” You look down at the back on your hair covered hands and really look at them. All the hair on your otherwise good looking hands makes you want to cry. “Yeah right…” you mutter sarcastically to the lab assistant.
