"Ahh, perhaps those two ..." Loki said cocking his head.
In one step he was down the down the street and up a floor, seated on the wall completely invisible for the moment. Loki listened to the conversation well under way.
"I'm sure we can make a long-distance relationship work, babe," the boy said. His name was Jack, Loki discovered. And Jack was going away to college soon.
"I know. But are you sure there is no way for you sneak me into your dorm? Maybe I could hide in one of your suit cases." The girlfriend: Elle was not going to follow Jack to school this fall. Loki had an inkling of an idea.
Jack was packing. His entire bed was covered by items that were slowly being packed into bags and boxes. His room, a cluttered mess that he was trying to sort through. It would be easier if Elle did not insist on trying to impede his every move. It was hard enough on him that Jack would not see her for months after he left. "Wish I could bring you along. But even if I could get you in the dorm, you wouldn't be allowed to stay."
"But I'm going to worry about all those college bitches that will want to take you to bed." Elle said calmly.
"You won't have to worry about that, Elle. My parents made me get a room in the all-male dorm."
Elle laughed. "Poor you. Jack gets none for the entire term."
"Oh, and I guess you will just be spending the next couple of month on your back, right?"
"You bet," she said laughing harder when she saw his shocked face.
His bed now clear, Jack unrolled an inflatable mattress across it. "Boy, is that all you can think about?" The tiny electric air-pump whirred for a few minutes. "Hey, jump on here so I can check for leaks."
Elle bounced playfully onto the flat plastic bubble. She tried to pull Jack down on top of her. When he pulled away she lay back in what she hoped was a sexy pose. "Hey, I'm great in bed. If you don't take me with you I will have a line-up of boys that would stretch down the street."
"Big talk, babe," Jack said turning his back to grab the patch kit. "I don't see that happening without an act of god."
Loki pounced. A sniffling of magic power filled the room.
