Dear Sis,
Your are in your last year of high school as I enter my second year at college. You will need to work much harder in college at your studies if you expect to maintain any grade average similar to what you are doing at present. I know the folks have college in mind and in their monetary budget for you as they did for me, it is a strain on their income and as well to their marriage, so don't when you come here and blow it!
Living at college this year is a good bit more lonely than last year, as some of those who came here from our town have dropped out. Whether from troubles with studies or again the high price tag for living away from home, it has taken a toll.
Where my letter is going you will never believe, but when at the student union today there I saw a posted offer for paid volunteers. Time is crucial, and to waste it volunteering would tax anyone, especially my own mental self. Then too, as and according to my first interview with a Professor Haun here, he informs me that by being a volunteer in one of his scientific study, he could help me, granting me some special liberality with me making my grades. How he has this much pull here at the college I do not as yet know, but if true, the volunteering would pay me to the tune of $1,500. per month.
This is easy money and not something where it would break into my time of studying, as when in the study done here I will room and board here at the scientific studies campus.
Yea, this is past history, and I went ahead and moved from old Mrs. Winslow's boardinghouse to where I am, me now in a much nicer arrangement. I have a complete one bedroom apartment, and it air conditioned with many amenities the boarding house had nothing like it is here.
The study to which I am a as the Professor says often, is a intricate beginning in a new realm of scientific study. He has here in a study too my friend Dan, Daniel Piper, you might remember him, he and I attended that music camp one summer in Michigan. As according to the professors chief assistant, a Professor Beaker. He is working with Dan, and breaking all the preconceived ideas dealing with cellular merging of human brain cells into giving increased intelligence to ponies. It sounds wild and somewhat weird, if Dan could do it, then why not me. If not for the money, and by what Professor Beaker suggests might become for me, I would have my name in the annuls of scientific journals for years to come, me in something as Jules Vern as is what Dan is making in his study.
I want you to promise, and make no mention of what I am up to to mom and dad, you know they would be the worrying types, they are...
I can take care of me, I should as come next year I shall turn 21 and be fully a legally legal person unto myself. I expect my birthday next year will be a milestone in my life, even Professor Beaker smiles and give me his acknowledgment that this next year will be to me as something highly special in my life and future.
Oh yea, you can write me here, but I would prefer you e-mailing, it would be easier, and keep then my new address a better kept secret.
The name of the study to which I might be a primary help in its success is the "Homo-bos-beeves research". Once the experiment begins, my first three weeks will have me in an isolation room, this because the professor wants to keep me safe from any air-born infectious bacteria. When I come from isolation the professor says I should feel exceptionally strong, having gained in physical strength and maybe some bulking of this normally skinny-well-fed body mom is always making fun of me about.
This being Friday, the move to isolation is on Sunday morning and you wishing to write me before then, I shall be looking for your e-mail to me.
Your brother,
Thomas L.(lean) Athens
