“Bye guys, see you later!” They waved as Tonia and Connie drove away together.
“If I haven’t said it before girls, I’ll say it now: I’m proud of both of you for supporting your teammates like that.” She gave them both a loving squeeze.
There was a knock on the door.
Her eyebrows raised, Carol went to the door to find Beth Tyler, a shy expression on her face. Beth was officially a junior, but because her intelligence had allowed her to skip fifth grade, she was only fifteen years old.
“Oh hi, Beth, what’s up?”
“Uhm, hi Mrs. Papadakis. Sorry, but I needed to talk to Jen and Lisa.” She looked around, noticeably jittery, Beth spoke in a tiny, but husky voice.
“Of course, honey, please come back in.” Jennifer gave her a warm smile as Beth came back in the door. Lisa and Jen invited her upstairs.
“Your mom’s really nice, Lisa.”
“Thanks Beth,” said Lisa. “We were going to go see the 23:30 showing of 2012 with my big sister. You’re welcome to join us if you’d like.”
“Iffits OK with my Mom, sure.” The three sat on the floor by Lisa’s bed
“What did you want to talk about?” Beth reminded Jen of Lisa when she was younger; she hadn’t said a thing during the meeting
“After we were told to go to the doctor, my Dad took me right away. I was examined and told that I might go through some changes, maybe some more hair or some growth of my breasts or genitalia. Doctor Jenkins told me to wait outside and he talked to my Dad for about ten minutes. Wednesday night I overheard my Dad telling Mom that I was producing the hormone naturally.”
Lisa shook her head. Overly protective parents, no doubt.
“Well, I didn’t catch the name of the hormone, so I couldn’t look it up on the Web, and they weren’t telling me.” They’re keeping me out of school until Monday, but when I got your phone call, I decided to come over. We only live a mile away. Beth smiled, and made a face. “You know, my Dad’s a firefighter. But after he told my Mom this, he started crying. And then I came here, and… Guys, what’s gonna happen to me?”
Lisa rested a gentle hand on her shoulder.

Kelly drove herself home, singing badly to even worse hip-hop. Her parents’ home was a three-story Tudor, but since her parents wouldn’t be home until one, and they would be back out at seven, she and her little sister pretty much ran it. Their parents were both investment bankers, a profession not known for its family-friendly hours. Kelly didn’t mind since she loved getting woken up by a big hug by Mom and Dad before they took the helicopter to Manhattan. Besides, he Dad’s connections assured her that she’d be dressing in Cambridge Crimson a year from now.
Her sister was there to greet her and she gave her a squeeze. The meeting had disturbed her, and she needed a drink to calm her nerves. Her breasts had started feeling heavy again though, so she went to the bathroom to milk herself. Before she did that though, she got a gallon jug from the basement. Lisa had advised her to throw it away, but it seemed such a shame to let that milk go to waste.
Not that Kelly hadn’t planned ahead; she picked up a gallon of milk for her sister. That way, Lindsey would have proper cow milk and she could use her own. Kelly was going to major in economics. Kelly was financially smart. Kelly was saving money.
She got about half a quart from her breasts, and she took the other quart from the refrigerator, pouring it into the gallon jug.
“Lindseyyyyyy!!” Kelly had the sweetest voice when she yelled.
“Yeahhhhh, Kelleyyyyyy?” So did Lindsey
“Do me a favor Munchkin,” Lindsey loved being called Munchkin. “I got a gallon of milk and some chocolate ice cream for you from Farmer’s Market. “Could you use the full gallon jug and not the half-empty one with my special milk in it?”
“Okey-dokey!!!”
Her beloved lil sister now protected, Kelly opened up her father’s liquor cabinet, and poured herself a couple tumblers of bourbon. She then assembled a nice assortment of fruit, cheese and crackers, turned down the lights and put on The Fellowship of The Rings (special expanded DVD).
While Sean Astin was ribbing Billy Boyd for screaming like a girl. Lindsey went to the kitchen for some chocolate milk. She took out Kelly’s special milk, poured herself a pint, opened the milk her sister had bought her, poured a pint back into Kelly’s jug and swirled it around to mix it.
Kelly’s milk just tasted better.
