There was a knock at the door, as it opened. "Hey, Kyle, are you in here? You're dad said you were
up here" Dave walked in and saw Kyle asleep. "Dude... get up! It's only five!" Dave walked over and
shook Kyle awake.
"Huh, what? Dave?" Kyle rubbed his eyes as he got to his feet. "What are you doing here?"
"I got locked out, and I lost my key. Thought I'd wait at your place." Dave shrugged.
"Oh, ok." Kyle began shoving clothes and books under his bed and couch. "Guess I should clean up!"
They laughed as Dave cleared himself a spot in a chair. He threw his feet on the table and knocked
the box on the floor.
"Dam, sorry Kyle." Dave picked up the box but the top came off and the chain tumbled out. "Cool, what's
this?" Dave examined it with his hands.
"O hey! That's your birthday..." Kyle put his hand over his both to stop himself. "Whatever... It's your
birthday present. I haven't wrapped it yet, but now that you've seen it, you might as well have it. I have
the other half."
"Really?!" Dave gasped, "Cool! Wait, what do you mean other half?"
"Oh, I bought it from that weird store near school." Kyle shook his head, "The guy said something about
it bringing friends closer together. I don't really believe in magic, but I think our friendship could use come
work."
Dave shrugged, "I guess..." He put the chain around his neck and stood beside Kyle. They watched in
the mirror as the chains started to glow. "Wow, what's this?"
"I don't know." The two eagle halves were pulled together like magnets and fused together with a bright blue
spark. Kyle felt Dave's right side pressed against his left. "Umm, Dave, I said we could be better friends.
Not a couple."
"Ya, I know." Dave looked strangely at Kyle, "So why are you pressing against me?"
"You're against me."
"No, you are..."
They both turned back to the mirror and watched in horror at what was taking place. Dave's right arm had
fused with Kyle's left, then absorbed into their chests, well their shared chest by now. They watched as
they continued to merge. Their stomachs and belly buttons were soon pulled together, as were their waists.
Dave's right leg was gone, and so was Kyle's right.
