I thought about for a moment. "Y'know, maybe you're right. I don't really know how this magic stuff works, so you're probably better suited. Here ya go." I
handed her the ring.
She slid it onto her finger and smiled. "Well, now all I need is something to wish for..." she trailed off for a minute. I started to leave, but she stopped me. "No, Joe,
don't go. I've got a few wishes I want to try out first." I was a little nervous about that.
She cleared her throat. "Joe, I wish that from now on, you will be a perfect student, exemplorary in every respect! You will no longer need to visit my office, or
have any troubles with your teachers or grades!"
And just like that, I'm sitting at home, doing my homework. Man, I never knew it could be that much fun to do homework, 'cause I was up all night doing it. Never
did so much work in my life.
All the next day, I could hardly believe what an egghead I'd become, answering every question in class, finishing work on time, paying attention during lectures...I
felt like I should be disturbed, but I wasn't.
It was only after two more days of school that Von Hauser suddenly re-appeared in my life again. She was just there, in my room, without me knowing it.
"I've given it some thought, Joe," she said, "and I have another wish for you..."
