My gut aches but the full moon above reminds me of times of fun. The man laughing at me is now on the phone. I hear his words but they seem to lack meaning as I gaze toward the lovely ball on cool light.
It was the first sight of two tough looking men walking toward me that made me stand my ground for a fight.
The men stopped but then urged by the man in the stand they stepped closer to me. I watched as they slid a belt over my face and tightened it around my head. The click of a mountain climbers ring to the belt made me wonder what was going to happen.
Happen was then already part of history, the men gave a tug and I followed them along. Odd I felt as we walked together. Calm and at peace with the world as they lead me to wherever. People looked at me some with a smile some holding their nose but I had no care I felt just fine.
Soon a gate swung open and with a slap at my butt the men sent me running into a fenced corral. I stood in fear as I saw dozens of ponies, horses, mules, donkeys, and a few cows. All the animals seemed afraid of the others and me too. I tried to walk close and thought to pet some of the funny donkeys. The response was to nip at me with intent of doing harm.
Harsh these animals were, as if filled with hate for their common beasts. I walked to the gate only to be stunned as a father holding a child said, "Look at the silly donkey he wishes he were outside that fence. Remember son they always think the grass is greener than it is in the pasture their' in!"
"OH shit, I'm a donkey!"
