Lisa saw blood start to come out of Patrick's nose and ears. She felt something wet coming out of her own ears and nose. Looking at Black Rose she saw the same thing. She didn't have a choice. She was going to have to reveal that she was Femsha. She took a deep breath and brought out her SmokeB. Looking at Black Rose she said "When my SmokeB explodes use the shadow that will be created by it to leave the ship."
"So you want to stay on this ship" Black Rose said with a little snort.
"I can use shadows too" Lisa said. "Why do you think my nose and ears are bleeding like your's?"
Black Rose brought her hand up to her ear and looked at the blood on the black spandex glove. Lisa couldn't help but notice that their costumes were similar. There were two major differences however. Black Rose only wore a mask around her eyes and a black cape. "You're Femsha aren't you?" she asked.
"I am" Lisa said nodding. "Now when my SmokeB explodes use the shadow to escape. The smoke will last for only a couple of minutes. I only have this one emergency one."
"I understand" Black Rose said.
"Good" Lisa said as she felt a wave of dizziness sweep over her. She saw Patrick drop to one knee and knew that their time was rapidly running out. She threw her SmokeB at the wall and it exploded into a thick black cloud as tall as the corridor and just about as wide. She helped Patrick to his feet while Black Rose went into the cloud and disappeared into the shadow. "Let's go" Lisa said as she helped Patrick over.
They came out of the shadows in Lisa's closet. Sitting on her bed was her mother and her face turned to one of pure terror as she saw them stumble out and fall to their hands and knees. "Lisa!" her mother said coming over and kneeling beside her. "What happened?!"
"Call Dr. Carthage" Lisa said in a week voice. "Shadowwolf tried to kill us. Maybe she has succeeded and we don't know it yet. There may be lingering effects from it."
"Lets get you two onto the bed first" her mother said.
Just then Patrick's mother came in with Lisa's favorite maid Ann. She rushed over to Patrick and knelt down asking "What happened?"
Lisa's mother turned to Ann and said "Go call Dr. Carthage Ann. Tell him that it's an emergency and he needs to see two people."
"Right away Miss" Ann said bowing and hurrying from the room.
"What happened?" Patrick's mother asked frantically.
"We were almost killed Mom" Patrick said. "I want to lay down. Help me onto the bed please."
"We need to get you to the hospital" Patrick's mother said.
"Dr. Carthage has the expertise they need right now" Lisa's mother said as she helped Lisa onto the bed.
"Shadowwolf used lights and sound on us" Lisa said. "Dr. Carthage knows what he's doing when it comes to unusual stuff like this."
"I trust Lisa" Patrick said.
"Alright" Patrick's mother said with a sigh and helped him onto the bed too. "How did you get away and get here?"
"Black Rose rescued us and brought us here" Lisa said. "She left immediately after. I guess she was affected too."
Soon Dr. Carthage came in and said "Everyone except my patients out." As soon as their mothers were out of the room and he was confident they couldn't hear he asked "What happened Lisa?"
"Shadowwolf tried using us as bait thinking we were normal humans" Lisa said. "She had set up a trap on her airship using lights and sound that affected those with powers. Fortunately I had a SmokeB on me and I used that to create a shadow to allow us to escape."
"I see" Dr. Carthage said. Turning to Patrick he asked "What's your power or powers?"
"What makes you think I have powers?" Patrick asked.
"You're exhibiting the same symptoms as Lisa" Dr. Carthage said. "I'm assuming that the trap wouldn't have affected you if you didn't have any powers. Now what are they so I can calibrate my instruments."
"Well I have x-ray vision" Patrick said. "I also have heatbeam blasts and power punches."
"Thank you" Dr. Carthage said. "Now I need to examine both of you."
Dr. Carthage was very professional even when he had to examine their bodies for other signs of what Shadowwolf had done. After he was done Lisa laid back on her bed totally naked and asked "Are we going to live?"
