I wasn't happy. I wasn't happy that I was planning on going up against government agents from my own country. I wasn't happy that the plan was risky. I also wasn't happy that I was cold. It was the dark of night and I was crouching in underbrush near Sidney's burned house. I was still wearing Kelly's tank top and short shorts, which didn't give much protection against the night's chill. Now I was experiencing cold nipples pressing against a bra, and the feeling was not pleasant. I wanted my life back, and this all seemed necessary to at least have a chance at that. Sidney had gone over the plan in detail, and we would need darkness.
The moon was now providing pale light in the clearing around the house while I hid in the nearby dark forest. There was one white, unmarked van parked near the house. There were two "guards," both wearing black suits with black ties, white shirts and shiny black shoes. I was amazed how stereotypical their "secret agent man" outfits were. One of them usually stayed in the van while another would lazily mill about outside. It was obvious that they were not taking this job very seriously. I was hoping that one of them would start patrolling around the house, out of sight from the van where I could catch him alone. I had waited in the brush for a couple of hours and neither of the guards had strayed far from the van.
The moonlight let me easily make out the dark profile of the man outside. I saw him light up a cigarette, then he finally started moving away from the van. He walked around the side of the house, and then turned to start moving almost straight towards me. What was he doing? Fear gripped me. Did he see me? Could he know I was there? I had no chance against one of these guys if he knew I was there. I tensed up, getting ready to make a run for it. The man walked up to a nearby tree and stopped. I heard him unzip his fly and then start relieving himself. I realized this could be my perfect chance. I silently moved out from the brush and charged him without a word. He barely had time to turn his head towards me before I plowed a two-by-four board of lumber directly into his gut. He doubled-over and let out an "ooofff" of pain while I swung the lumber as hard as I could up into his jaw. He fell over, out cold. Sidney and I had gone over the exact attack many times during the day, but I was still surprised Kelly's body had the strength to do this. With a bit of effort I dragged the man's unconscious body into the woods towards where Sidney was hiding.
Sidney was ready with the remote. She pushed a few buttons to swap her mind into the man's body. Nothing happened.
I whispered, "Why didn't it, ummm, work?"
"It always takes a few minutes for the device to calibrate. If the target here was awake, it wouldn't be able to start the swap at all. It would help if I was asleep, but I don't want you to knock me out as well. Good job by the way on knocking this guy out."
"What-ever." I was still not happy with what I had just done.
We sat in the darkness several minutes. I was very curious what it would look like when the remote made Sidney's body disappear, though in this darkness I wouldn't be able to see much. It happened in an instant. I almost thought I had seen the very molecules of the girl's body tear apart from each other, then she vanished. I sat stunned for a few moments on what I had just seen, then I pulled out a water bottle and splashed the man's face.
He woke up with a start and gasped.
"Sidney? Is that you and stuff?"
He answered quietly, "Of course. What, you didn't think it was going to work?"
"Uhhh..."
"It worked perfectly." Sidney actually sounded defensive and offended. "And... owwww. I have a headache. You let this agent have it good. Wait, why are his pants open and... What did you do to him??"
"Don't spaz. He was like that when I found him."
"What??"
"He was like, taking a leak on a tree."
Sidney fixed up his new body to get ready to walk out into the open. My main part in the plan was finished, now it was up to Sidney.
