Before I left the reception area, I glanced at the aquarium and noticed on lone goldfish staying in place, looking out of the tank at me. And I remembered Nancy.
"I wish Nancy was out of the fish tank and in front of me," I said. The goldfish disappeared from the aquarium and materialized on the floor at the feet. It was
flopping around frantically, gasping for air.
"I wish you'd turn back to your normal self," I said.
While still flopping a little, the goldfish began to grow. Its back fins turned into legs, its side fins into arms. Its eyes spread away from each other, until they were on
the same side of a head. A nose grew and the mouth gained full lips. The odd figure grew taller, became more human, until it was, once again a statuesque woman.
Only one thing hadn't changed back yet, and made me say "I wish you'd stop changing!"
A soaking wet Nancy looked dazed at first, then blinked her eyes and seemed to come back. Then, she looked at herself. Instead of the light brown color it had
been, her skin was still the orange-gold color of the goldfish she had been.
