“Hey Jenny” Jenny’s best friend Susan said when she’d arrived at
school, Jenny looked at her friend for any signs of the curse’s
effect. Was the curse real? Had Kyle made everyone want to tie her
up? Susan was twirling a scarf in her left hand.
“Er, Susan” Jenny thought it best to just come out and ask, “You
don’t have an urge to...” She stopped.
“What is it Jenny?” Susan asked, now concerned by her friends
behaviour.
“...tie me up do you?” Jenny whispered.
“What? No! Why would I want to tie you up?” Susan said, but Jenny
noticed how her friend’s voice changed slightly as she spoke. Jenny
tried to tell her about the curse, but found she couldn’t make any
sounds and her mouth just flapped uselessly.
“Do you want me to tie you up?” Susan said giggling, lifting the
scarf in front of Jenny’s face.
“No!” Jenny started to panic, the curse was real, she knew because
she couldn’t talk about it and now Susan was acting weird.
“How will you know unless I try this!” Susan said quickly grabbing
hold of Jenny’s wrists and tying them behind her back.
“Susan no!” Jenny shouted, trying to break free.
“Oh come on Jenny, it’s just harmless fun...”
Jenny tried to break free of her bonds but Susan’s scarf was well
tied. “You should use a more sturdy rope” said a voice behind
Jenny’s back; she turned quickly and looked into the eyes of the
janitor.
“Do you have one?” Susan said playfully.
“Wait! No!” Jenny pleaded as a piece of rope was wrapped securely
around her wrists and Susan’s scarf was removed. “I don’t want to be
tied up!”
Just then the bell rang and Susan picked up Jenny’s bag and started
walking towards their class.
“Susan wait!” Jenny called, “Untie me!”
Susan turned and winked, “I’ll untie you when we get to class, come on!”
