I heard a honking noise from behind me and turned and saw Cathy's daughter, Sara, in her car, clearly come to pick her mother up and not seeing her. She looked quizzically at me and the fine Palomino mare standing next to me and shouted, voice practically dripping with frustration "Hey, Joey, have you seen my Mom? I have to pick her up from her date again."
I thought a moment about changing her back, or telling Sara the truth, but in the end I made an altogether different decision. "I wish everyone accepted all my wishes as normal. I wish Cathy had always been an intelligent talking horse, who married a man and had Sara, a human child." The world seemed to stutter a moment, then Sara was sitting in the front of a truck, with a big trailer behind it, and Cathy was climbing in, her equine mouth opening as she shouted, "Tell your mother to save some of the men for the rest of us Joey!" and whinnied in her annoying laugh. Sara rolled her eyes and mimed shooting herself in the temple and I nodded.
As they drove off I realized that clearly, this rings power was basically limitless. Just like everyone else, I'd occasionally thought what I'd do if I had a wish or three of my own, and now I had not one, not three, but apparently unlimited wishes! And I knew just what I was planning to do.
