You can’t stop staring at the dog thing before you that used to be a woman. “I will let you girls be alone for a while so you can get to know each other better” The lab assistant tells you as he closes the door behind you. A moment of embarrassing silence passes as you look at the golden retriever before you. She her mouth opens and she begin to pant slightly. “Have you just started your treatment?” She asks you again. You just keep staring into the green eyes. She tilts her head a little “Have you already lost your ability to speak? Then they must have done some major improvements of the process” Your mind suddenly comes back to reality and you’re able to use your mouth properly. “N-no, I can speak” you stammer. The Retriever stands up on her four legs and smiles a canine smile. “That’s better, maybe you should sit down so you can relax a little?” You quietly nod your, as you feel a bit uncomfortable by these creations of science, knowing that you will soon follow in their footsteps (or maybe you should say paw prints?)
Both the terrier and the Afghan hound continue to watch as you slowly make your way to the sofa and the golden retriever walks beside you. The terrier moves and seats herself next to the sleeping lab to make room for you. You sit down on the couch, which is actually very comfy but covered by dog hair. The retriever sits down at your feet, still wagging her tail, she seems to like you. But the two other dogs don’t look too friendly. The terrier is still staring suspiciously at you and Afghan gives you just a quick look before nonchalantly looking at another direction. Now when you can have a closer look at the terrier, you can see that her eyes aren’t the only thing that still is human. Her paws almost look like little hands and some of her “fingers” have slightly deformed human nails instead of black dog claws. You almost jump off the couch because you’re so nervous when you feel something cold and moist being pressed against your leg.
“What are you doing!?” You ask the Golden retriever, when you see that she’s sniffing your leg with her damp dog nose. She doesn’t seem to listen as she’s too busy sniffing. Suddenly she begins to lift your skirt a little with her muzzle and this makes you blush a little. You grab the dog things head and push it away. “Hey! That’s off limits! Haven’t anyone taught you any manners?” The retriever lowers head a little and looks a bit ashamed. “I’m sorry, I just wanted to see how far you had gone in the treatment” You reach out your hand and slightly pat the dog on the head. “It’s ok… if you really want to know, this is my second day on this so called phase two…” The retriever looks up and meets your eyes again. “So what breed are you becoming?” You begin to feel even more uncertain and nervous as the dog before you talks about this very serious subject with such ease and you also become constantly reminded of your fate every time when you look at these dogs.
“A… Tibetan spaniel I think…” you almost whisper as you rub your hand against your furry left arm, feeling quite miserable. “Then you have a lot of pain looking forward to… believe me I know” You look at the terrier, surprised that she’s broken her silence. “What?... Oh, you mean the ‘transforming small breeds is very painful’ thing… Yeah, I’ve been reminded of that a dozen of times, thanks for reminding me again…” Now you begin to feel even more miserable. The Retriever glares at the terrier “Thanks a lot Nancy! She’s here because she needs support and you’re not very helpful”
“Can you quiet down a little? I’m trying to sl…” Ask the lab, but stops when she sees you. “Oh, I didn’t know we had a guest…” The lab stands up and walks over to you. “Out of my way, bitch” She tells the terrier as she nudge her of the sofa. “Hey!” The terrier exclaims in protest but is ignored by the black retriever. “Hallo, I’m Patricia. Nice to meet you” The lab sits down next to you, waging her tail making thumping noises as the tail hit the sofa. “Um… hi, Patricia. It’s nice to meet you too” You greet, trying to be polite and ignore the fact that you’re talking to an ex-human. When you look at the humanlike ears of the lab before you, your curiosity begins to become too big to handle. “Why do you all have one or more human feature? Why aren’t you full dogs?” You ask them, turning your head so you face them one at a time. “A good question” The golden retriever answers. “Well, when we went through the treatment it wasn’t exactly perfect… but hopefully it will be better this time so you can be a full dog” This answer confuses you a little.
“What do you mean? Isn’t good that you can still speak?” The golden retriever nods slightly. “Well, yes. But I would rather bee a full dog, it’s sometimes difficult to run with these things in the way” She looks down on her breast. “Oh… but still… isn’t it better to be able to be able to speak?” She shakes her head slowly. “We can’t live normal life like this, neither a normal human or canine life. Because we are not quite dogs and we’re not human”
“We aren’t even allowed to meet males. You don’t know how hard that is when you are in heat and are not allowed to meet males…” Patricia adds. You begin to feel a bit disgusted and look at the lab. “You mean you want to mate with the male dogs?! That’s disgusting!” Patricia doesn’t react to your comment and answers calmly “That’s what I also thought at first, but then when I went into heat for the first time I quickly changed my mind and my mate also became very eager to meet. You will also change you mind about this, believe me…”
But as Patricia end her sentence, you’re not listing any longer. Your disgust have changed and become physical sickness. Your face almost turns green and it feels like you’re going to throw up. A heat builds up in your body, just like last night. The bones inside your body burns like fire and you begin to sweat. “No, not again!” you scream and fall down from the couch. The Golden retriever jumps out of the way and then she lowers her muzzle next you ear as you wriggle in pain on the floor. “Don’t worry, all this will be over in a few days. Then you will be a happy Tibetan spaniel” She whispers in your ear.
