"Look I appreciate the offer, but if traveling to odd parts of the world has taught me anything it's taught me that mistrust strangers randomly offering you room and board for free. Thank you I'll stick with those who have a clear ulterior motive, i.e. my gold." you say to the woman. By this time the windows of the inn show the tiny light of a lantern approaching.
"You don't understand..." The woman in the brown robes begins, but she's interrupted by the opening of the door. A woman answers the door, somewhat shorter then you, with straight, light-brown hair that flows to her shoulders, and shows the tell-tale signs that she'd been sleeping peacefully.
"Well...looks like I have a customer. Two customers perhaps." she says smiling at the woman in the robes. In response the woman in the robes sneers.
"I, of course, would never stay in a place so shabby and overpriced." She says to the innkeeper haughtily. "...and if this weary traveler has any sense he'll steer clear of it as well. Come, good sir, you'll find the price of staying here much too high." she says.
"Oh now," the innkeeper says with a smile and a admonishing wave of her finger. "you'll scare away my new customer." She says and holds her hand out to you. "Come now good, sir, we'll find you a warm meal and a soft bed and discuss payment tomorrow." she says
"I'll stay at the inn tonight. We can speak tomorrow." you say to the woman. The innkeeper wraps her arm around yours and smiles.
"Doubtful." The woman says sadly and leaves. The innkeeper guides you into the inn and over to a table by the fireplace. She tells you what a wise choice you made and asks you a bit about your travels as she busies herself with getting you a meal. The meal itself is not much; some bread, some cheese, a mug of warm ale, very strong. Perhaps the ale is stronger then you're used to, but you find yourself getting dizzy and you have trouble keeping your eyes open. You see her smiling an odd smile as you try and focus your eyes.
"Let's get you up to that room." she says, her voice sounds odd. You start to fish what few coins from your belt pouch that you have, but she restrains you. "...in the morning pet. You'll give me my payment in the morning." She guides you to the bed and helps you into it. She smiles at you. "By the way...you should have listened to her. Now it's too late." she says. The door closes and you hear it lock just before you fall asleep.
