Sally awoke the next morning feeling refreshed. Her feet didn't feel sore at all.
She slid out of bed and headed for the shower. When she turned on the water, it reminded her of the dreams she had last night. In all of them she was swimming, but faster than usual despite using only her feet to propel her.
Sally stepped into the shower and the water felt even better than it usually did. As she lathered soap over her body, she saw her feet for the first time that morning. They looked strange. She looked closer and realized something was caught between her toes. She wriggled her toes but whatever it was moved with them. She reached down, figuring perhaps some plastic or something on the floor had stuck to her foot. But when she grabbed the "plastic" between her fingers, she felt it! A gentle tug confirmed that it was attached to her.
She inspected each of her toes and it was the same situation for each of them: there was a thin layer of skin between her toes. She had webbed feet!
Sally wondered if it was related to the ointment she had used the previous night. She wondered if she could find the store in Chinatown again and even if she did would it do any good? She didn't think the owner spoke any English. Maybe if she showed him her feet he would understand the problem? Strange as this change was, her feet didn't hurt.
In the meantime, she needed to finish showering and get to work.
