Madame and Julie turned away from the house when they heard a voice call out "Who are you?"
Madame saw an old man calling to the pair from a neighboring house. She gestured for Julie to keep the headphones on, and walked over to the old man's door. "I'm a private investigator, Sir,is there something you wanted to talk about?" She showed him her license.
"I'm Mitch Hurteng" the old man began. "Are the dogs still there?"
"What dogs?"
"Big dogs, they walk on two feet."
Madame slowly coaxed the story from the old man of how he had heard mysterious noises from his neighbor's house, how he called the police, how he had observed from a crack in his shutters as the police had almost immediately turned around and left, and how two more big dogs, as he called them, had arrived shortly afterward.
Madame looked toward Julie and sighed. This wasn't looking good for her.
She thanked Mr. Hurteng and left with Julie and Trevor.

"Guess what, guys." announced Julie to Abbey and Samantha when she had returned to her home and taken off her headphones. "We're going on a trip!"
The kids were puzzled, particularly by the strange woman and her cat that their mother had brought home with them.
"Will there be a mirror there?" Abbey asked.
"Uh, sure" said Julie.
"What's that about?" Madame asked.
"They have an imaginary friend, a wolf-girl that lives in mirrors."
"A wolf?" Madame said.
"She's our friend! She says she can bring us into the mirror to play with her!"
"I don't know what this is about" Madame said to Julie "but where you're going cover up the mirrors."

After packing and paying off Mary, Julie and her daughters, followed by Madame Serenity, drove to Frostville, a small town about fifteen miles outside the city limits of Glendale, and checked into a cheap but respectable motel.
Madame and Trevor drove back to Madame's apartment. "OK, Trevor, I need you to do something for me."
"What?" asked Trevor, increasingly distracted by the female cat smells coming from the back door.
"I want you to go ask around the feline community and see if there are any new big canines in town."
"But, but" sputtered Trevor. If he went outside, he knew Queen would find him, and he had serious doubts of his ability to resist.
"Oh, for heavens sake" Madame rolled her eyes "This isn't really very much." She went to the backdoor and opened it.
