All four guys were heading for the exit when they were stopped by a yell from down the hall. When they looked over they saw another scientist run down the hall towards them. Rex sighed, all he wanted to do was go home, but Matt wanted to see what the guy wanted. When he caught up with them, the name on his employee pass said Rivers. John had a silly grin on his face, "Hey Doctor Rivers! How's it going?!"
"John! Jeff!" Dr. Rivers shook his head in shame, "I heard you two were going to fuse, and I thought I could stop you in time..."
Jeff looked a bit confused, "Um, it's ok. We're doing this to help our friends! See?"
"Yes yes, I know about number 47" Dr. Rivers sighed and clenched his fists. "I just thought maybe I could get to you first."
"Dude, we have names you know." Rex was irritated and tried to pull Matt with him out the door.
"Wait, number 47? what's that mean?" Matt jerked Rex around to stop him from moving.
"It's the test subject number you two were given." Jeff sounded unenthusiastic, "It's just to keep track of all the subjects."
"And we're only subject 47?" Matt asked, "That doesn't sound like too many people..."
"Er.. It's only for the teleport experiment." John said.
"So there's others? Like this?" Matt asked.
"Many..." Dr. Rivers muttered, catching the attention of the guys. "And not just from the teleport "accident"."
"What's that suppose to mean?!" Rex yelled angrily. "Did they ever get apart?!"
"Ha! You must be joking!" Dr. Rivers shook his head again, "They gave up trying to split subjects apart years ago." All four guys looked around with mixed emotions before Rivers went on, "As they said, "If it isn't possible to split people apart, then we'll just use our funding to stop them from fusing in the first place." Instead, they used some of that money to set up a place for all the joined guys to go and live."
Dr. Rivers looked one more time at the two joined pairs, "I should have gotten here faster... but it's too late. If you boys need anything, or any more information on the "institute" you know my number." He turned and walked off down the hall, leaving the four guys standing and wondering what to do.
