The dinner went fine, though Chris found himself grossed out a bit by
his two dads playing kissy face. He rolled his eyes. When he got back
upstairs, he'd use the Chronivac to fix this situation.
After dinner, his father brought out chocolate souflees, and Powerstud
Shakes. The shake was surprisingly tasty and the souflee was
incredible.
"Alright, Chris, you do the dishes, while Marky and I talk business,"
Mike said.
Chris headed into the kitchen with the dirty dishes in his hands. More
were waiting on the counter. He heard Mark ask as he disappeared into
the kitchen, "What business? I thought we took care of all our work
this morning?"
"Monkey business, honey!" Mike whispered loudly.
Mark and Mike laughed and stumbled together from the dining room to
the sofa.
"At least dad seems happy," Chris said rolling his eyes and turning on
the hot water.
Just then there was a knock at the back door.
"Yo?" said Chris opening it.
He recognized his buddy Jack, but Jack was no longer the fat kid he
had been yesterday. The buff young man standing there in his Hurley
shorts and t-shirt was a complete change from the WalMart wardrobe
that heavy Jack usually wore.
"Woah, Jack! What happened you look great! Nice threads too."
"Yeah, well you gave them to me," laughed Jack.
"No seriously, yesterday you were way overweight, 5'6" and 300 lbs,
and today, you're a hunk?"
"Dude, you okay? I admit I was a tubby kid when we met 5 years ago,
but thanks to you and those PowerStud nutrition stuff, I'm the stud
you see today."
"Whoa! I did not see this coming when I tinkered with the Chronivac.
Not that it's a bad thing. I just wonder what else changed?"
"Chronivac? You mean I was a lardo up until you used a Chronivac.
Please do not do anything that might change me back. I wish I was
aware of the changes. You said I was an accident? What other changes
did you make? What made me into a stud?"
"I guess I changed me and my dad into studs and the Chronivac sent
ripples through time and space. It made my dad VP of a company that
makes Powerstud - to be honest with you, I never even heard of
PowerStud until today. I wonder if my dad's company always made it,
but he just never tried it or talked about it, or if the Chronivac
changed the company product. I mean his boss is still the same,"
Chris said. "Say these dishes won't wash and dry themselves, want to
help me?"
"You mean Mark Mortimer and your dad were married in the other reality
but they weren't buff?" Jack said taking a dish towel and drying the
just rinsed plate that Chris handed him.
"I don't know - I mean know. My dad was divorced, and I'm not sure if
he had even met the guy who ran his company, he was only an office
worker. I mean we lived next door to each other, and I had Goodwill
clothes and furniture."
"Wow! This is so cool. Maybe when we're done with the dishes, you
can show me the Chronivac. I wouldn't mind my dad being gay and
married to a hot billionaire like Mark Mortimer. We'd probably live
next door to each other again," Jack said.
"You wouldn't mind your father being gay?"
"You mean you do? I mean, I remember that he was gay or bi since we
were little, and you seemed okay with it then."
"Those are manufactured memories from the Chronivac, my dad was
married up until the year I met you, and then she got herself knocked
up and had triplets. When I used the Chronivac to make my dad be
married, I thought it would still be to mom," Chris explained.
"Oh," said Jack who was suddenly quiet. He was thinking about the
Chronivac and Chris - not about using it on his folks. He had always
had a crush on Chris, and somehow or other the Chronivac had made
Chris into a breeder homophobe. If the Chronivac did that, Jack could
use the Chronivac to fix that. "So tell me exactly what you did. How
does this Chronivac work, Chris?"
And Chris told Jack everything.
