Her swim had started two weeks ago, and by the day's end, she will have achieved her goal; she will have reached the western coast of the United States. She had to. Only her and two others had survived the perilous journey across the sea. The others had either drowned or starved to death, and another had been killed by an orca.
She had renounced her Human name, as all of the others had done. But she was deemed unworthy of receiving a new name because of what she had done as a Human. She had fought against the wolves at one of the artillery bases before she had been captured and converted.
But today, her redemption was at hand, for she was about to bring the end to Humanity. Overhead, the seagulls squawked. It wouldn't be long before she hit the sand.
Tomorrow would be a beautiful day.
