"The boy is innocent. I rescued him from a place where boys become donkeys, and in exchange for his freedom I asked him to do us a favor. He didn't want to do this, he had to."
Greta didn't look impressed. "Even if your story is true, you'd have just taken him to Astara after to join your fate..."
A dark smile spread on Dana's face, and a playful fire could be seen in her eyes. She spread a hand behind her, opening another demon portal and grabbing Jeffrey by the arm. "If you continue to threaten him, that'll be my only choice. Don't you think he'd make a rather cute demoness? I'd be glad to convert him myself, if salvation is impossible for him. I've done it plenty of times before, and it never gets boring."
Jeffrey was stunned. He looked between Dana and the goddesses, silently pleading. Jean raised an eyebrow and whispered something to Greta. Dana's expression softened, though, and her voice took a gentler tone.
"Just promise you won't harm him and I'll be on my way, all right? Jeffrey is innocent. Maybe even take him home, if you have the capacity. He's had a long week without misinformed light-wielders blaming him for our fun."
