We stepped outside the building, the tall giraffe ducking under the door frame, and we stood face to face in the middle of the street. There was a slight breeze in warm tropical air. "It's a good night." She stared up at the brightly lit stars. "Don't you think?"
"It's lovely." I stared up at the sky and my eyes went wide as a long forearm rested across my back, a large hoof-hand resting on my shoulder. I brushed my cheek against the gold and brown fur of her palm and looked up, smiling.
Jessica looked down from the sky and straight into my gaze, her own smile broadening and her sparkling blue eyes shining against the moonlight. They reminded me of the stars. "I know this nice little restaurant a couple blocks away." She smiled gently, maybe pointedly. "Or... would you prefer something else right now?"
I looked up at her and felt something that startled me deeply. I put both my hands on hers and smiled softly. "I think..." I began, considering.
