Megan put you in a booster seat in the back. Sally also sat in the back. You took out your wand and looked at it. "Your wand isn't a toy," Megan said. "You can accidentally cast a spell. I will teach you how to use your magic but for now put your wand away."
"Yes Meg... Mommy," you said. You know that you need to stop slipping like that. As Megan got in something flitted into the car. You could see it pretty clearly. It was a small female human with wings. She looked roughly around eleven. She wore a simple pink dress. Her wings looked like pink dragonfly wings. "What's that?" you asked.
Megan looked and said, "Your mother will be looking for you Talnorra."
"She said I could come meet the new witch," Talnorra said. Turning to you she said, "My name's Talnorra. What's your's?"
"Uh... Holly," you said a little surprised. "What are you?"
"I'm a pixie," Talnorra said. "Where are you guys going?"
"Out for pizza," Megan said.
"May I come with you?" Talnorra asked.
Megan sighed and said, "If your mother says it's ok."
"I'll be back in a sec," Talnorra said as she zipped out the open window.
"Won't someone notice if she comes with us?" you asked.
"Only supernaturals," Megan said. "Unless a mortal is more perceptive than others."
"What do you mean Me... Mommy?" you asked.
"Most supernaturals that don't look like mortals have a perception aversion spell on them," Megan explained. "As long as they don't do anything to bring attention to themselves a mortal will look right past them not realizing they're there."
"I saw Talnorra come in though," you said confused.
"That's because you're no longer mortal," Megan said. "You can now see past the spell."
Talnorra came back in and said, "She said I could come with you."
"Alright then," Megan said then honked the horn. Almost immediately more pixies flew out from under the car.
Talnorra shook her head sadly and said, "They just don't understand the danger of playing in the engine."
"Those were Talnorra's little brothers and sisters," Sally said. "They like to play in engines."
"As a lot of young pixies and fairies do," Megan sighed and honked the horn again. "You wouldn't believe how many children are killed when someone starts an engine." She pulled out her wand a few words then put it away and started the car. "Takes them by surprise," she continued as she pulled out. "They'll get out of the way of a car coming but then again some are caught by surprise by that too. It's just a fact of their lives though it sucks for them."
You nodded your understanding. It had to be heartbreaking for the parents. "How long do you live?" you asked.
"Oh we live until we're a little over twenty usually," Talnorra said. "Though we only age one year for every ten years. Fairies have about the same except they age a little faster. They age one year for every nine."
"It must be nice to fly," you said looking a little wistful.
"You'll have to come to my house sometime and stay," Talnorra said smiling. "I'm sure my mom will allow you to."
"Unless you have a big house I don't think I'd fit," you said.
"You'll be able to once I teach you the spell to become a pixie," Megan said with a smile. "Now we're almost there."
Your stomach rumbled telling you just how hungry you were and you couldn't wait to eat.
