Monica had slept well that night. The bed in her room had felt heavenly after she'd gotten dried off in front of the fire. The cotton sheets were soft and inviting, and she pulled the comforter over herself and nodded straight off. She dreamed of the town, which was surely foremost on her mind that night. Still, the town in her dreams wasn't quite the cloudy, rain-soaked place she'd walked through on her way to the bed and breakfast, though it was still night there. Rather, moonlight shone down on the cobblestone streets where she stood. She was barefoot, the smooth stones of the street pressed against her soles. Indeed, as a cool breeze reminded her, she was naked. As was so often the case in dreams, this didn't bother her. She brushed her hair from her eyes, and started walking down the street. Soon a giddiness seeped in, and the walk quickened to a run, laughing as she dashed for the edge of town, towards the thick forests that ringed it. As she neared the trees, a chorus of beastly cries rang out from the woods beyond. With a feral grin on her lips, Monica lifted her head skyward... and answered them in kind.
That was when she woke, sunlight from the window stinging her sleepy eyes.
"Mmph. Weird dream," she muttered as she blinked and pulled back the covers. Sitting up, she swung her legs over the side of the bed. That was when she noticed a slight bristly feeling as her calves rubbed together. This took a moment for her mind to muzzily process, her eyes straying down to her legs to see the dark brown hairs along them. She was apparently rather badly in need of a shave.
"Been letting that go too long, I guess." She murmured and went to get showered and ready for her day.
Breakfast had gone quickly, as Monica had been ravenous. The bacon and sausages were devoured in short order, followed by the eggs she'd been served by Mrs. Laughlan. Afterwards, she stepped out the front door of the bed and breakfast and stretched, pondering what to do with her day.
