"I told you to only read the beginner witch section Kat," Dan and Kat's mom said. "There was a reason for that. You don't have the knowledge to use the more advanced spells properly. I should have told you that but I didn't think I needed to."
"I still don't see what I did wrong," Kat said her voice quavering a bit. "I can undo the binding if it will make you happy."
"That's the problem," their mom said and paused. Sighing she continued, "I know you didn't read all the information on the spell. If you had you would have known that a soul binding can't be undone."
"You mean I'm Kat's property for the rest of my life?" Dan asked absolutely shocked.
"You're not her property Dan," their mom said. She looked down and said in a barely audible voice, "You are her husband now though."
"WHAT?!" Dan and Kat yelled together.
"It's true," their mom said. "That's what the binding is. Kat, I told you that once we gained our power at eighteen our aging slows down dramatically. If you met someone who you wanted to spend the rest of you life with then you would cast the soul binding so your husband or mate would age at the same pace as you. It's a double edged sword however. It can make both of you physically ill if you don't sleep together and have sex."
"You mean I'll become ill if I don't have sex with my sister?" Dan asked. "That's gross Mom."
"I can't have sex with Dan," Kat said looking horrified.
"Then what did you mean by me giving you pleasure then?" Dan asked.
"You thought I was going to have sex with you?" Kat asked. "You're a real perv. I meant that I was going to take pleasure in transforming you. I never wanted to have sex with you."
"Well you'll have to now," their mom said. "In the most extreme cases those bound have died from going too long without having sex with each other."
"You're kidding," Kat said in almost a whisper.
"I wish I was," their mom said. "Also Kat when you die Dan will die too if he hasn't died before."
"So if I die Kat get to go on living but if she dies I die as well?" Dan asked.
"Yes," their mom said in a small voice.
"That isn't fair," Dan said fuming.
"It's not as bad as it seems," their mom said. "If Kat gets pregnant after you die you will be reborn. The child in those cases is always a girl. I know this first hand." Dan and Kat stared at her blankly so she continued, "Long ago I was born Michael. When I met Elizabeth she bound me to her and we were happy. Then I was trampled to death and Elizabeth eventually moved on. After a bit she met someone else and they had me."
"That's interesting," Dan said.
"There's something else Dan," their mom said. "You now share Kat's powers."
"What?!" Kat asked looking stunned.
"It's the way it works," their mom said. "And before you get any ideas about revenge Dan you can't use magic on Kat as it's her magic. And Kat, you can't use any magic on Dan except what is granted by the binding."
"Well that's good," Dan said looking a little more happy.
"Are you going to transform me Mom?" Kat asked looking worried.
"If it wouldn't transform Dan too I would," their mom said looking daggers at Kat. "And if Dan's transformed you will be too. So you'll have to look out for each other now."
Kat didn't look happy with this at all. Dan thought that she considered it a punishment to have to look after him. He looked at their mom and asked, "So what now?"
