Julius was having a conversation with the counselor when the subject of the college mascot came up. The counselor had the tough problem of finding a new mascot for the football team.
"Yup Julius they gave me a real hot potatoe on this one!" said counselor Lang.
"What happened to Ralph the meat mascot?" asked Julius.
"Oh the farmer kept him during off season would breed the big boar. It was in a fit of passion the 400 pound monster had a heart attack and died with his pecked deep in a sow." said Mister Lang with a chuckle.
"So why not buy a new boar?" asked Julius also witha grin.
"Ralph was a Razorback hog and they don't just grow on trees! Why I doubt if there's one within a thousand miles!" said Lang.
A chuckle from Julius made the counselor look at the youth in a questioning way. "Do you have an idea? You get me out of this fix and I guarantee next year will be a breeze!" said Lang with a big smile.
Julius returned to the dorm to find Cody angry and throwing a fit.
"Damn it, damn it, nothing goes as you might want does it!" yelled Cody at Julius.
"What's the matter there my fine friend?' asked Julius as he ducked a flying pillow.
"Oh Hell my Dad called and he is getting transfered to Japan. He said I'd need to drop out of school and get a job for a year or two. Seems the job he's going to doesn't give our family the student aid I have so enjoyed these past two years."
"Need a job? drop out of school, and parents will live in a far away country, hmmmm!" mumbled Julius.
The arguement went on for some minutes till the phone rang.
"Hello Julius, Mister Lang, I talked with the board members on my side of the fence and we would be willing to offer a tidy sum if you could help me out!"
Julius smiled and thought for a minute, cupping his hand over the phone he looked at Cody. "Hey I got a real deal for ya if you want to earn the final two years of college, interested?"
Cody smiled in agreement.
"Mister Lang I want a two year scholarship for my buddy Cody. He need's financial help and plans to finish his education."
Muddering and fast talking on the opposite end of the phone line. Finally, "We agree, how soon could you replace the mascot?" asked Mister Lang.
"Soon very soon, I'll let you know, bye!" said Julius.
"Well want's up Julius, I'm all ears!" as Cody sat on the torn up bed.
Julius smiled and thought for a minute till he turned to his roommate. "I can get you a scholarship for two years to finish the education and graduate. The catch is that you need to accept a position here at the college. It seems the college needs someone to help in team spirit and I think you are perfect for the job. Why just the way you handle yourself, the body language your perfect."
Cody beamed with pride and joy, "When can I get started?"
"Well clean up your mess here and I'll be back in a couple of hours, then we'll get you to your spot for employment." said Julius.
Cody was delighted his fair friend had found a job which in the end paid for the two years at college. Meanwhile Julius had to figure out his spell and repeat it till he had worked out all the possibilities.
Walking about Julius grinned and thought to himself, "this is what friend's like Cody are good for alright!"
About five that afternoon Julius returned to the cleanest their room had been in two years. A smiling Cody sat waiting on his bed as the door opened to an evil sneer from Julius. "Ready!"
A friendly arm over Cody's shoulder Julius walked the lad toward his new job.
