Cassie and her brother Mark lived alone with their mother, Rachel. Their parents had separated years ago, and Cassie rarely saw her dad. Apparently her newfound status hadn't changed her family. She felt like she'd been abandoned all over again by her father.
Despite being astonishingly intelligent and beautiful, he'd still left her! She fought to hold back tears; the sudden outburst would likely confuse her family. Instead, she muttered to herself "I wish I didn't care about men."
Instantly, her feelings about her father vanished. She was now totally neutral towards the opposite gender. What's worse, she didn't even remember things being any other way...
During dinner, her brother's antics annoyed her more and more. He seemed to think she found him funny, or even likable, and he seemed a bit upset about it all. How bothersome.
Normally she'd let the matter slide, not that she cared one bit about Mark, but her mother seemed upset. She put her mind to work on the topic, and by bedtime (another unforseen consequence, she now had a set bedtime!) she hit upon the solution.
"Mark would make a much better girl than a boy. At least then he'd be more interesting." She yawned, her younger body seemed to get tired more easily!
"I wish Mark was a girl..." And with that, she fell fast asleep.
Meanwhile...
