"What -- what happened?" said Miss Johnson in confusion. I could see Amanda about to respond. But a look from me stopped her. She didn't want to be returned
to infancy, or worse.
"Nothing's wrong," I said to Miss Johnson. "You look great."
"I feel great!" she said. "Better than I have in years. Still, something's different."
"Here, let me walk you home."
Miss Johnson lived only a few blocks from school. She liked the exercise of walking to school each day. Soon, we were inside her house.
"Let me change out of my work clothes," she said. "You can turn on the TV if you want to."
I went ahead and grabbed the remote, though I thought about wishing that the TV would show me Miss Johnson as she undressed. But before I could, a football
game came on. And something seemed to be going on.
"We don't know what happened, ladies and gentlemen," said the announcer. "Suddenly, the cheerleaders for BOTH teams turned into toddlers!"
