"What the hell?!" Dan asked with big eyes.
"Look at me Dan I'm a mermaid," Patricia said doing a little flip in the water.
"How?" Dan asked.
"I told you I'm a witch," Kat said with a smile. "I was going to leave you alone since I didn't want to waste my magic on you but now I think Patricia could use a twin sister." She raised her wand and uttered the needed spell but nothing happened. She tried again and a third time before asking angrily, "Why isn't my magic working?"
"Because you don't have it," a male voice said.
Looking over to a pool chair Dan and Kat saw a man sitting on it that they hadn't noticed. "Who are you and how did you get there?" Dan asked.
"And what do you mean I don't have my magic?" Kat asked.
"I'm a friend of your mother's," the man said. "My name's Rick. As to how I got here I flew on a jet and I've been here invisible since this morning."
"Have you been following me?" Kat asked indignantly.
"Your mother asked me to," Rick said.
"You pervert," Kat said angrily. "I should turn you into a frog."
"You forget that you don't have your magic at the moment," Rick said. "The reason that I have been following you today is that new witches are monitored for a time and you, Kat, have broken the secrecy rule. For that you would normally be stripped of your magic but since it was family that you told it's not as bad. Though I have to warn all three of you not to tell anyone else or there will be consequences."
"What consequences?" Dan asked a little afraid.
"I have a nice collection of dolls and clothes that use to be witches and those they told," Rick said.
Dan gulped and Kat said, "Thanks for the idea." Kat pointed her wand at Rick and said a spell while he just yawned and looked bored.
At Kat's look of frustration Rick said, "You forgot that you don't have your magic which is the only thing that has saved you."
"You wouldn't have been able to do anything except support my breasts," Kat said venom in her words.
"You still have a lot to learn little fish," Rick said with a smirk. "The main thing is that with your family if you change your species you lose your magic."
"I changed Patricia though," Kat said confused.
"That's right," Patricia said still swimming around Kat.
"Now Kat you've tried to change Dan and me yet failed," Rick said smiling. "What does that tell you?"
Kat had to think about it for a few moments then asked, "How do I get my magic back?"
"Well you have to change back into a human," Rick said smirking. "But since you don't have magic right now you're at the mercy of other witches."
"Will you change me back?" Kat asked with a pleading look in her eyes.
"Not yet," Rick said turning serious. "You need to learn a lesson."
"Well I don't have to worry about Kat changing me," Dan said with a smile. "I could have some fun."
"Not so fast Dan," Rick said a warning tone in his voice. "You need to be taught a lesson too."
"What do you mean?" Dan asked looking like he had just seen a ghost.
"You've pulled a lot of mean pranks on your sister," Rick said. "Like the time you put blue dye in her shampoo or the time you put garlic extract in her perfume. I can't list all the times you put itching powder or bugs in her bed. Then there was the time you put a diaper in her purse."
"But they were funny," Dan said with a look of confusion on his face.
"Do you know how humiliating it was for your sister when a girl who didn't like her found it?" Rick asked. "Of course you don't because you never took into consideration what she might go through with your pranks. You only thought of your own amusement. Kat said you were born evil and from her point of view she's right."
"But I'm not evil," Dan protested, "I just like a good prank."
"Like fixing a dress of her's so it would fall down while she danced?" Rick asked.
Dan smiled and said, "That was a good prank."
"That prank could have gotten your sister hurt or killed," Rick said starting to get so angry that steam was coming out of his ears literally.
"No it wouldn't have," Dan protested.
"If Kat's dress had fallen off a minute earlier she would have ran into a group of boys that would have raped and killed her when she ran from the dance hall," Rick said shaking with fury.
"And how do you know that?" Dan asked scowling. He was starting to hate Rick.
"With the right spell a witch can see what would have happened if something was changed," Rick said.
"Yeah right," Dan said dismissively.
"Hopefully you'll understand someday," Rick said as he took out a wand.
Dan looked at it and said, "If you really are Mum's friend you won't do anything."
"Your mom is very patient," Rick said holding his wand on Dan. "She was going to let Kat punish you." He quickly said a spell and Dan froze in place with only his eyes moving.
"What are you doing to him?" Patricia asked worried for her brother.
"I just froze him in place so he doesn't escape while I change Kat back," Rick said pointing his wand at Kat now and muttering a spell.
Kat's tail split becoming normal legs once again and the webbing on her hands vanished. Her swimsuit bottom reappeared as she grew younger again so she was eighteen. Kat looked up and asked, "Do I have my magic back?"
"You do," Rick said smiling. Then the smile disappeared from his face as he said, "You can transform Dan into whatever you like but there's a condition on it. He must remain alive. If his transformation results in his death I'll have no choice but to punish you. Also I should warn you that should you turn your magic on me that you'll be punished as well." He laid back in the chair smiling again and said, "I think you should make him Patricia's twin sister but it's up to you."
Kat raised her wand toward Dan with a wicked smile on her face. For his part Dan's heart was racing wondering what Kat was going to change him into.
