Kassie tossed and turned in her rather uncomfortable bed, which felt like it was packed with straw. The lamb she'd chosen for dinner seemed to have disagreed with her, and after a while she vaulted up and put on a long T-shirt. Time to go for a walk and cool down.
As she wandered into the cool night, she noticed Beckie wasn't in her bed any longer. She shrugged it off, guessing she'd gone to the bathroom, and continued out to the pens where the animals were kept.
The pigs were being extra loud, wailing and squealing. They all looked like they were surrounding something, but Kassie couldn't get a good look. For a moment it seemed as though one of the pigs was large, almost human in shape, but she put it down to the fever that was coming on. "Okay, might be an idea to get a glass of water," she reasoned.
Kassie knocked on the door of the farmhouse where Farmer Morris stayed. She waited, shivering in the cold, until he came to the door.
"I didn't wake you, did I?" She asked.
"I was already up," he replied. "The boars were... bored so I saw that they had something to entertain them."
"Huh," Kassie said, not really clear on what he meant. "I don't feel so good Mr Morris. Can I come in for a glass of water?"
Morris paused. He didn't want this pretty young girl going through this in his home. "How about you go and see to the sheep over on the other side and I'll bring some fresh water round."
Kassie nodded and walked quickly towards where the sheep were kept, on a large stretch of green grass. Morris rubbed his hands in delight. Tonight was going to be a very productive night.
