The four boys stepped into the briefing room and Justin gazed around at the various computer screens. There were four of them; one for maps and various geographical uses, one as an encyclopedia on various creatures and enemies, one for data analysis and one for multipurpose usage. There were doors leading off from the briefing room, leading to an armoury, vehicle storage, teleportation room and strategy room. There were several other rooms that were multipurpose.
Dominating the briefing room though was the holographic interface which was used for communicating with other Teams in the Defenders, and of course with other squads and with HQ. Teams had no leader, they all reported to the Squad Leader. Squads were made of four or five teams and three squads formed a Unit. Units reported back to Command. The Defenders consisted of about ten units, every member specially selected as the best of the best, geniuses, prodigies, fighting elites and so on. Often some of the best soldiers who went 'missing in action' had actually been recruited into the Elites; the best agents the Defenders had to offer and were part of Command.
Michael pulled up the blue-green holographic image of their Squad Leader; Lieutenant Briggs. He was actually rather young, being only in his late twenties. However he was a commanding genius and commanded great favour amongst his superiors. The four boys saluted, Colin felt it the right thing to do considering the circumstances. "You may stand down agents," the Lieutenant said "Now first why is there a civilian present?"
"He's my boyfriend, sir," Justin said "He knows who we are and has never told a soul, sir."
"Very well, but keep silent about all you see here. Understand?" Briggs said to Colin.
"Yes sir," Colin said quietly, as if he'd ever tell anyone.
"Very well. Now then we've detected a dimensional disturbance in Rouge Park in Toronto. Your team is to travel to the location and discover the source of this disturbance."
"Yes sir!" the boys said and saluted.
"It's possible that the disturbance is an unregistered dimensional nexus. Extra caution should be taken if that is the case. Dismissed." The hologram faded and Justin twirled his sword.
"Are we going?" he asked impatiently.
"Yes, I'm just thinking," Michael said.
"Well let's suit up!" Justin cried
"I'll be waiting for you," Colin said.
"I know," Justin said and the two kissed again briefly. Then Colin was off and the three boys began to get ready.
