"Hal Carter and his son Jake Carter, let's give it up for them!" Mitchell clapped his own hands together as the audience joined in, ushering the two men up on stage.
If it hadn't been said, few would believe these two could even be father and son. Hal Carter was a big man in his late forties, three inches over six feet with a stout and muscular frame. A bit of a gut hung over his belt, but anyone could tell the man was mostly muscle. His hair was black, peppered heavily with gray. He kept it cut short along with a neatly trimmed beard. He had a face like carved stone, with two dark eyes and a firm set jaw. His forearms had a good deal of dark hair on them, and dark chest hairs curled over the collar of his shirt.
Jake on the other hand was a good six inches shorter than his father, and thin as a rake. At eighteen, he barely looked older than fifteen. Shaggy blond hair fell constantly into his eyes, and his cheeks were smooth, doubtful he even needed to shave on a weekly basis. His chest, visible through the unbuttoned neck of his polo was baby smooth, as were his arms and legs. His bright blue eyes were in a femininely round face, behind a pair of glasses.
Mitchell calmed the audience with a raised hand as the two men stepped up to the podiums opposite each other. "It says here that Hal is a college football coach, and Jake is in college studying for a fine arts degree. Well, this should be interesting. Now for the rules."
The cards in Mitchell's hand made a clack against the podium as he got them back into a neat stack. "The first round is what I like to call the Gamble Round. First the category will be randomly selected by our computer." The large screen behind him flares to life, spinning graphics in bright colors playing across it. "You will each then write a number in front of you, this is your wager, it must be between 1 and 10. I will then read the question and you will write your answer. After that the feature at stake will be selected. If only one of you answers correctly the feature will be transferred, the amount to be transferred is your wager. 10 is a full swap, 5 will average you out and so on. If you both answer correctly the wagers will be averaged out, and if you both answer incorrectly the wager will carry over to the next round with a new wager added." He turned to the screen behind him and raised a hand, "Let the game begin." Words began flashing on the screen too fast to read, it began to slow and finally stopped.
"And our category is.. MUSIC! Please write your wagers!" Both men looked across the stage at each other, not even knowing what was to be traded between them made it difficult, but finally they each wrote a number and put down the pens.
"Let's start with a simple question. Which composer wrote the 'Moonlight Sonata'?"
