Dave and Josh had walked all the way to Dave's house. Before they entered, Dave took off Josh's backpack and put it over Josh's head. When he went to open the door, Dave found it locked. His key was in his locker at school, but instead of going all the way back, he knocked on the door and hoped someone was home.
He was surprised to see his younger brother Damion answer. Damion had skipped school with Steve, a friend of his. They were hanging out, playing some videos games and eating chips with pop. Damion looked at his older brother nervously, "What are you doing home so early?"
"None of your business brat." Dave pushed passed him and took of his two miss matched shoes. "Besides... I could ask the same of you!"
"Oh.. well... um... dad... and..." Damion couldn't think of any good excuse, and Steve wasn't about to open his mouth either. Damion just watched his brother, and noticed something different about him. "Uhh... why are you wearing two different socks?"
"Because I couldn't find any others, duh!"
"Oook.... why do your pants two different colours?" Damion asked, "And your shirt? And whose jacket is that?"
"Damion just shut up and leave me alone, ok?" Dave grunted and headed up the stairs, with the backpack still on his shoulder. He and Josh did they're best to walk up the stairs without wobbling, then down to Dave's room where they closed the door.
Damion stood there for a few moments, then went to check out the two shoes Dave had been wearing. One of them, was a size bigger than the other, and He as sure he hadn't even seen Dave wear that jacket before. "What's up?" Steve voice made Damion jump. He had come over and was standing right beside his friend.
"I don't know... but I'm going to find out." Damion was staring up the stairs, "You want to come with?"
Steve smiled, "Like we'd go anywhere without each other." He and Damion laughed and did their 'joined at the hip' routine.
It was a few minutes before Damion and Steve had gone up to see Dave. They had beaten their game, and finished off all the junk food they had been eating. They were now standing outside Dave's room, listening from the bottom of the door to Dave, and someone else talking, but they could only hear parts of the conversation.
"So you're sure? How are we suppose to live... My dad and brother... But I don't know..."
Damion and Steve sat up. Neither one could hear what was going on, but they both were sure that Dave had been alone when he had walked through the door. They were now leaning against the door, with their ears pressed close. They couldn't hear any better, but one sentence did come across.
"So we're going to be stuck as a two headed guy forever?"
Damion and Steve's wide eyes met. Big smiles grew on their faces, and Steve mouthed the words, two headed, and pressed closer to the door. The conversation had stopped, and they were about to head back downstairs when the door popped open, and Steve and Damion fell into the room. They both looked up to see Josh and Dave, before they had time to cover Josh again.
Dave was instantly furious, "What the hell are the two of you doing?! Are you spying on me?!" He took a step without giving Josh any sort of sign, and the two of them stumbled and fell right in front of Damion and Steve. Damion and Steve stared in wonder, then looked at each other, "Two headed!" they both cheered in unison.
