The call to go home early had surprised a few but not all. Dr. Summers had been brought on board by Dr Rothman and even as the majority had gone he had organised the team he wanted to stay and help with the research.
Only a small team of 4, all tested loyal team players. Dr Summers chief people were Dr Sue Rogers, brilliant geneticist with a wicked sense of humour; Dr Bill Drum, a big gruff scientist and ex-football player; Darren Amleth Italian descended computer expert and all rounder; and Dr Tim Argyle a Scotsman who’s love of whisky was almost match for his skills in a lab.
It had been Darren Amleth that had pieced together the remaining computer files and Tim Argyle that had plotted the virus’ course. But they worked together and that was the important thing for Dr Summers.
Dr Summers was troubled. His advice was sound, lock down the area and hope that they could find a vaccine before the virus reached the reservoir, however the sacrifice of a village sat uneasy with him. The Team met him outside the secure area that contained Rothmans’s office. His concern must have showed on his face because Sue immediately asked what had happened.
“Rothman is taking our recommendations” Dr Summers said. “Otter Falls is gone” Darren sighed empathically “guess we have a time scale then” he said
“Yes. We do”. Dr Summers said quietly.
“Well let’s get a move on then” rumbled Bill in his deep bass voice.
Dr Summer led the team back towards their labs, separate from the original teams it took a little longer to get to from Rothman’s office. As they walked they talked quietly exchanging ideas. They were just rounding the corner to their office when they heard something ahead…..
