Rick walked down the road lost in thought and in a foul mood. He was always upset when the agency failed to get to a child in time but this time he was the one that found Molly Hatton's burnt and naked body. "She was only six," he said kicking a rock on the side of the road. He wouldn't be able to forget what he had seen anytime soon and he had his doubts that he would be able to forget it at all. "What kind of monster does that to a little girl?" he asked gritting his teeth. He had wanted to find her alive so much since the circumstances surrounding her kidnapping were the same as another case 32 years ago. A case that he was intimately involved in even though he lived nowhere near where that crime took place.
Rick shuddered remembering his last life and how he had died. During that life he had been a little girl named Karen Hays and when he was six he had been kidnapped the same way Molly was. He knew it was the same because in both cases the kidnapper had left a doll with the girl's name on it at the scene and there wasn't a struggle. The kidnapper was Karen's babysitter's boyfriend and always seemed nice which is why he had gone with him in the first place. He had been taken to a secluded wooded area and raped both vaginally and anally which hurt. After he was raped for an hour he was tied to a stake and a slow fire was lit below her. He had hung there for an hour basically cooking and trying to shout through the gag. Finally the fire started crawling up his legs and he finally died once it reached his chest. The boyfriend had been taking pictures of him being burned and when he came across that case years later he had found out the murderer had left some of those pictures by the body. When Rick found Molly's body there were pictures of her tied to a stake and being burned like he had been in his last life.
"She probably wasn't supposed to die like I wasn't supposed to die," Rick muttered growing angrier. He wasn't supposed to die in his last life but he did. He was placed in this body a couple days after his death when the previous spirit had left after drowning at age four. Now he had to wonder if Molly was going to be placed in another body. If she was he hoped she either wouldn't remember her life or she was placed in a girl's body. He hoped it was the former since remembering her life and how she died could drive her crazy in whatever body she ends up in.
Rick bent down to grab a rock to throw into the woods but stopped when something caught his eye. It was some type of medallion with a strange figure on it. Picking it up he took a closer look at it. The figure appeared to be a winged human though he couldn't tell if it was male or female. The medallion looked really old and worn so he couldn't see if there had been anything else on it at one time. It looked like it could be mistaken for a cheap plastic medallion but handling it he knew it was metal. He thought he had heard the description of this medallion before and he searched his memory for it. After a couple of minutes he came up with it and was shocked. Looking down at it he said, "This can't be the Medallion of Zulo. It's just a work of fiction and doesn't really exist. But if it doesn't exist what is this?" If he actually had the Medallion of Zulo then he could become a little girl and live out his life as a girl. Or maybe he could bring Molly back with it. Would it even be able to bring someone back from the dead and would it be ethical to do that? What should he do?
