"Actually," Sally said. "These nails give me an idea. Can we get some fangs? Not Dracula-style ones, but something pointy and cute?"
"I think we've got something like that," the man said. He walked out into the sales floor and returned after a minute with two tiny plastic pouches, each containing a pair of tooth caps. "These pop onto your canine teeth quick and easy."
Sure enough, in less than a minute Dan and Sally had acquired little fangs that stuck out just a bit from their normal teeth.
"You don't have to worry about taking them off to eat at the party," the man explained. "The glue they've got on them should hold them in place for at least twelve hours."
"Thanks a lot!" Sally said, smiling at herself in the mirror. "This costume is amazing! I feel like a real cat!"
"We aim to please," the woman said pleasantly. And you, Dan? How do you feel about your costume?"
Dan had been looking himself over in one of the full-length mirrors, trying to pose girlishly. "I like it...," he said.
"You don't sound so sure," the woman responded. "Here, you'll look awkward if your legs aren't balanced. Stand like this, so your back can support your breasts. There, that's much better."
"I guess I don't really know if I like pretending to be a girl. It's gonna be weird going to the party with everyone I know seeing me like this. If I didn't know anyone there, that'd be easier."
"You need more confidence, is all. Sally will be with you. I bet she'll be able to help you loosen up and enjoy yourself. And if you enjoy yourself, your friends will see that and won't think anything of it."
"I hope you're right," Dan sighed.
