The boy of about 16 was standing in the driveway of his house, one foot on the ground, one foot on the mower, as he pulled the cord to attempt to start it. It cranked, but wouldn’t catch, and the boy was grumbling.
Loki sauntered over and asked, “Can I help?”
”Nah, it’s this crappy lawn mower,” replied the boy. “My dad’s too cheap to get a new one.” He made one more unsuccessful pull and finally looked up at Loki. “Can I help you with something?”
Loki shrugged. “Just new around here, going for a walk.”
The boy nodded, gave the mower another pull, and exploded with a “damn it!” when it still didn’t start. Looking defeated, he took his foot off the mower, stood up straight, and said the words Loki loved to hear.
”I wish...”
