“He sounds wonderful Joanne.” Nancy replies after a long pause thinking once more of her dream. Was it a dream she wonders looking into the mirror and watching her tail wag? Just the thought of meeting Riley has her feeling excited and she does not know why.
“Nancy we will come right over.” Joanne tells her friend.
“No Joanne! The place is a mess and I have nothing to wear.” Nancy tells the phone but it has gone dead. Tail tucking between her legs a soft whine comes from her mouth as she thinks of where to hide.
“Did I just make a dog noise?” she asks looking once more into the mirror eyes wide. Starting to feel restless she begins shifting her weight from one foot to the other as if unable to stand still anymore without even realizing what she is doing.
“I’m dreaming all this! That’s got to be it.” She tells herself but then wonders why is she feeling so happy. Casting a glance to her antidepression medication she wonders if maybe it’s the pills making her simply imagination all this. But no doctor Radcliffe has been practicing medicine for years. She would never play tricks with clients.
A loud knock at the door causes her to jump suddenly. “Oh no! They are here.” She thinks with dread but also a burst of sudden happiness as she drops the towel. As if unable to resist she finds herself all but dancing over to the door and throwing it open. Canine like whine of pleasure escaping her mouth while her tail wags rapidly in clear excitement.
