Wolf or Dare: And hardest of all, believe in yourself

added by Alex_Warlorn 13 years ago A AR TG

Glass Marie spoke to her attentive audience, "That wouldn't be the last time Marie, Gita,
Goldwyn, and Grissele would dream of each other. And it wasn't the last they would
interact in their dreams. Since they had appeared to each other as adults women, the next
time they appeared to each other in their dreams as children, and later teens, they tried not
to connect the people who had been friendly and seemingly accepted each other with the
scary woman or women who had been verbally so horrid to them.

The witchlings didn't exactly have many friends if any, they were incredibly close nit with
each other. The idea of having a friend in of itself was something strange and wonderful to
them, much the reason they wanted familiars in the first place. Marie offered them that
same joy."

"So they lied to themselves." Said one of her audience, it didn't matter who.

"People and children lie to themselves all the time. 'It's not my fault' 'It'll just go away' 'It's
my problem' 'It's okay, I'm just doing what I'm told.' This is why it took Marie Cruz
practically nine more years to realize precisely what she needed to do, and accept these
girls she knew, who had been more or less friends, were monsters that needed to be
restrained. She had just effectively lost three friends. She had only Mutt then and her
father. Vatican for the time remained a distant relationship."

"Friends? After only meeting twice, and one of them like that?" Lawrence asked astounded.

Everyone else in the room looked at him.

Maddex as a father explained it to him, "Children are a lot more quick to form friendships
than adults."

"There was also the small detail that Marie's self image was still that of a black haired girl,
it wasn't until she was used to it that her self image in her dreams would change too."

"I never understood people who dyed their hair or fur," Betty said, "I can understand why
Marie HAD to do it, but it always felt to me like they were just lying to themselves and the
world."

"Maybe they are," Marie shrugged, "But it's a lie that culture has never really been
concerned with, let alone usually upset by, in spite it's logical connections."

"What I find ironic," Said Lawrence, "Is that the black cat was fixated on her girls achieving
a particular destiny, but at the same time denounced destiny's existence."

"I never said she wasn't hypocritical, the girls deciding to impose THEIR way of thinking on
those around them to liberate them from another way of thinking they saw as oppressive
was just another example."

Silence.

Glass Marie began again, "Most had concluded that Gita's confirmation teacher going from
a woman around thirty years old to a child only a few years older than her student was a
blessing from God. It was more pleasant to think than she had made a deal with the devil
for returned youth in change for her soul, in particular when her students said how she
was proclaiming God's will when it happened.

"She aged at a relatively normal rate. Though she did have trouble with new students
taking her seriously. She became frustrated at that, but time would fix that. And never
once did she so much as think that Gita was somehow responsible. The witchlings'
grandmother had been very VERY careful to hide their lineage and country of origin from
the puritans of Glendale.

After the girls' tested their newfound power to turn some sleeping slaves into more fairies
(it was decided via a coin flip), they had been feeling rather proud of themselves.

Gita saw the man driving the horse and wagon, she had Lilith with her under her dress (out
of the sight of the law slaves), and used the snake as a focus to tap into the Infinite Chaos.
She reduced the middle age man to a five year old as he drove by, and dissolved his
clothes just for fun! Of course, suddenly, there was a scared, confused, and alarmed five
year old driving a horse draw wagon with grips meant for an adult.

The lad screamed and panicked, in return so did the animal, and in a matter of seconds.

"WHAT IN THE LORD'S NAME HAPPENED?!"

The little naked boy came flying off the seat, breaking his neck against a building wall, and
the animal crashed into another cart, and broke two of it's leg and had to be put down.

Gita stared... her mouth open... her eyes large and twitching...

Her father asked her repeatedly what had happened when she wandered home (having
been on her way home from class). Gita just stared almost catatonic.

Later that night Gita said to herself, "I'll bring him back, I'll bring Joella back, I'll bring
mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, I'll bring them all back! I swear it!"

Glass Marie said, "The number of transformation of people, animals, into more animals,
mythicals, and objects, are too numerous to count, often the girls would target those who
struck her pity or fancy, and still they'd continue to experiment in ways to prevent and
safely reverse and STOP adulthood cold.... "
