"Dr. Matthews, please report to Research Lab Six!"
Brett Matthews figured that his algorythm must have worked, and the four treaded tank monstrosity was now reformed into a full fledged cyborganic tank. He entered the lab, and smiled, he could see the tank turret gleaming in the spot lights just over the computer bank in front of the door. When he rounded the corner, Brett's jaw dropped. The upper half of the tank was perfect, but the lower half was a mirror image.
"Well, there goes my weekend plans," laments Dr. Matthews to the assistant who paged him.
"Yeah, it's supposed to be a beautiful weekend. I've got a date to go on a picnic, but if you need me to..."
"No, no. Only one of our weekends will be ruined, hah!" Matthews tries to make a joke of it, but he is disappointed. He had planned to take a drive this weekend as a car. YES not IN but AS. He had intended to inject himself with the nanobots and run the program for his ideal car that was stored in his home desk top pc.
He walks over to the tank and taps on the side of the turret. "How's it going in there, Jake?"
There is a grinding noise as the top turret turns and the lower one tries to tearing up the floor in the process. The gun metal green smooth surface morphs into a bas relief of Jake's face.
"Man, I'm so horny," the gun barrel bobs up and down. "I really need release." Well, at least the warfare subroutine is working, each successful target hit by this tank will result in Jake experiencing an orgasm. After a few practice shots, the boy should be an expert marksman.
"Man, I've got a headache, can you do something about getting this other Jake outta my head. It's like I'm going schizo!" The voice came from the bottom turret, another Jake face in bas relief, except upside down is clearly visible.
"See what I can do Jake!"
He rejects the programming, and laughs with a smile. "Better than I'd planned, asexual reproduction," he says aloud.
His assistant gives him a funny look, and says, "We are talking about a tank, aren't we?"
"Oh, yes, it's just that the nanobots are self replicating, and this line of code here should read 01 not 10. Instead of making one tank, the nanobots are trying to make two. Ten is two in binary."
The assistant stares.
"There was enough material to make two whole tanks, so they made two halves. Have another load of materials delivered to the lab, and placed next to the tank. It's a good thing that the containment field is in place or the nanobots might have cannibalized the main frame and most of the lab for parts."
