Dr. Veranderen says,"You're a lucky man,Eric, today we're testing Formula 409."
Eric looks confused, "You mean the spray cleaner?"
"What?"
"Formula 409 (tm). You know like "Fantastick,"(tm). The cleaner, it's sold in every store."
"Hmmmm. This is Dr. Frieda Mann's project. I wonder if she is having a little fun at my expense. You don't suppose she gave me cleaning fluid." He looks at the clear liquid in the syringe he is holding.
"Well, if that's cleaning product in that syringe, I sure as hell don't want to be injected with it, even for $1 million."
"I'm sure it's not, but I'll check to make sure."
He pulls a device that looks like an electric thermometer from his pocket. He puts a drop of liquid from the syringe into the device, and taps the red button on the end. The led lights up, blinks three times and beeps.
A computerized voice booms through the stereo speakers, "Analysis complete. The sample conforms with mutagen developed by Dr. Mann and identified as 409."
"Then it's not a cleaning product. Just a coincidence in name, Eric. Now extend your arm."
"Well, if you're sure?" Eric relents, and rolls up his sleeve.
The injection stings and itches like a bee sting. It starts to swell up.
"Is it supposed to do that, doc?"
"Interesting," speaking into a pen microphone, "subject 21 is flushed and sweating. The site of the injection is swollen and bright red. Subject appears to be disoriented. He is staggering, and has collapsed on to the sofa."
"Arrgh! What's happening t-t-t-to meeeee?"
Eric grabs his head and it aches, when he pulls his hand away he takes a fistful of hair with it.
"Subject seems to be losing his hair, and is swelling all over. His clothing is stretch taut over his frame. Subject has grown several inches and is at least 6'5" now. His body can clearly be seen to reshape, the waist is tapering, and the abdomen is forming a six pack of well defined abs. His hair has completely fallen out. His facial features are rearranging. He looks very familiar."
"Very funny, Dr. Mann, Formula 409 indeed, the result of your muscle enhancer is the spitting image of Mr. Clean (tm)."
