And so...the four teenage girls returned to the new lives they'd been given and middle-age, obese black chicks. For some, it was almost easy. The former Diane stepped into her new life as Highschool teacher "Miss Della Biggs" with ease. As the days passed, she looked on the sea of young faces in her class room...and saw boys and girls who she'd been friends with as Diane. She watched the news reports about the dissappearance of four local girls...and it broke her heart to see her parents so upset when reporters interviewed them.
Still, she met a man. A successful, black lawyer named "Clyde Washington" who she first dated, then married. One year after her initial transformation, she was now signing her checks as "Mrs. Della Washington" and was delighted when she was told by her OB.Gyne that she was pregnant. A child! She and clyde were going to have a child! After finding it was to be a girl, Della suggested the name "Diane" (in honor of the person she had been) and Clyde thought it was a lovely name...
Which is why she was so horrified when she woke one morning...and found she'd become Diane again!
She looked down at the young white girl she'd become again...and instead of being happy, she was stricken with horror! At least she was still pregnant, as the fuller belly and perkier breasts suggested. About 6 months along...just as before...but what about her life? Her NEW life? She looked over at her husband, then at the wedding photo on the table...and wanted to cry. Could she convince him that she was really his wife? She looked down at her hand, and saw her wedding wing...now very loose, as it had been sized for a hand with MUCH fatter fingers. She looked into the mirror, and saw the now 17 year old blond girl in the reflection...and she did start to cry now. Why had the Fat Man done this to her? She'd adapted to her life as a fat, older black lady. She tried to do a little mental inventory, and found that though she knew she was a teacher (even in her old Diane body, she considered herself to still be "Della Washington") she could only barely remember what she'd known as a teacher. She was back to her Diane knowledge, and Diane scarely knew how to juggle fractions, let alone teach High School math.
What should she do? She wanted to wake Clyde - to hear him say he loved her no matter what she looked like - but she held off. What if he didn't believe her?
