David crawled over the split rail fence and up the steps to his still open french doors. Into the study he walked leaving dirty footprints. A hot shower and thoughts of his terrible experiance as a dairy maid and milking cow.
Cleaned up and down to breakfast the maid gave him an odd look. Suddenly David began to double check his head to see if any cows horns or something beastial was still showing.
"Maye what is it, your looking at me rather funny?" asked David at last.
"Sorry Sir, but I cleaned up some very dirty footprints in the study!" replied Maye.
"Oh I went out early this morning forgetting myself and walked into the mud. When I entered the house I had no way to clean them so I made a mess, I'm sorry!" answered David.
Maye seemed not too satisfied with the answer but breakfast went on as normal.
David returned to the study and a long look at the black leather bound book with the medallion. "I know what happened but it still seems so impossible." thought David.
A call from the barn as his foreman was having some troubles. "Come down and tell me what you want with this gurnsey cow?" asked the foreman.
David closed the book placing it in his top desk drawer and with a key locked it tight. On the run down the brick walk and across to the barn he ran. Strange thoughts of his night and how a Gurnsey got over to his estate.
Once inside the sight of the cow made David shudder. Not only did it remind him of the previous evening but it had the ear tag which just hours before he had trimed from his swollen ear.
As the Foreman stood holding a rein attached to the cows halter the wall phone rang. "Sir this is Jeeves I can't find Maye anywhere about the house, did you you send her on errands?" asked the Butler.
"Ahh Yes, I asked her to pickup the postal box mail for me!" replied David as he thought of the cow.
"Put the cow in a holding pen and I'll call VanMeijer to see if he lost any cows. said David to the foreman.
A bellowing cow went along with the foreman as David wondered what to do next.
