Gillie didn't believe her own lie that somehow everything would be just better tomorrow.
Serenity said it wouldn't be until next week when the cure would finally exist in large
enough amounts that they could cure the entire city and cut out the root of the curse in
fell swoop.
'And until next week comes, I'm stuck still dealing with idiots and jackasses who have the
power of god in their hands.' And NOW all the police who officially recognized the
existence of the curse and were willing to deal with it were all on sick leave.
'Though maybe after all happened across the country... across the world, hopefully no one
is going to deny the existence of the game anymore...' Of course, GIllie had spent years
turning a blind eye to the game, under the simple assumption that if she didn't go to the
trouble of facing or interfering with it, it would leave the average person and police alone.
'That was a complete disaster.'
Jennifer Smith and Kyle Perkins use of the game had set off an entire cascade that had
changed the face of Glendale, dammit, the entire human race and planet forever! And now
Serenity was telling him that the side effects of the game wouldn't die with it!
Nobody questioned Gillie going home early, though they did give her looks, some were
surprised, other looked relieved their chief was finally taking a breather for herself. 'Is that
because I'm a woman now?' Gillie cursed again.
She got into one of the large vans that the police station now owned for the purpose use of
Leomans and laid on her stomach and using the special wheel and pedals drove him,
having to be VERY careful as she had to deal with the new set up.
Gillie began to wonder, 'If there's supposed to be more lionesses than lions, but you can't
have babies without a man and a woman... is that why my gender changed? Because I'm
single?' Gillie growled, of all the reasons to get married, she never imagined holding onto
her masculinity would have been one of them.
Her new night vision made things extraordinarily closer to day, but she wished she couldn't
see some of the details she was.
Gillie saw more giant naked lion people walking about, mostly mothers with children going
shopping. Apparently readily available wild game didn't disperse their desire for variety to
their pallet. Gillie couldn't know these were the mothers and siblings of the friends that
Sabrina/Nala and Trevor had transformed at school earlier that day. And the cycle would
repeat itself with their siblings friends and family the next day.
The human beings still greatly out numbered the leomans. But Gillie also cat sight of what
looked like rainbow colored cat people that were actually SMALLER than human beings as
humans were smaller to the wolves and the wolves were smaller to the lions. Not to
mention, the sickening sight of large naked wolf people.
Gillie had for a moment the demented thought that if she could court a woman that she'd
get her manhood back, Gillie nearly crashed when she felt the unwelcome shiver in her gut
at the idea of being with a woman. Gillie didn't like that one bit, Gillie had always been
straight, never gay! But now.... Gillie sighed in misery as the almighty logic hit her hard,
"I'm STILL straight!"
Gillie wasn't the least bit surprised when she found her front door unlocked, or found a
giant naked lionman with the same fur coloring as her and a nice big mane raiding her
fridge, or a giant mundane lioness as white as snow lazying about as if she owned the
place. However, as Matriarch of the Pride, she did technically own the place, any place she
wanted to rest was hers. No Matriarch had ever abused this privilege in leoman memory, it
wouldn't be -civilized- after all.
"Hi grandma," GIllie sighed, "Hi grandpa, I'm home."
"And it's wonderful to have you home." Mother Glen said simply.
"Marilyn and I were just getting ourselves something, I apologize if you wanted us to wait
for you."
"No, it's okay, help yourselves, I rarely have guests anyway..."
Except of course for Jacob last night who had come to see purely out of a desire to check
on the well being of a member of his super-family.
"I know you have a lot of responsibilities dear, you shouldn't just abandon people," Mother
Glen said, "You don't want to end up like a robot do you?"
Gillie silently prayed to all her ancestors (praying they still were her ancestors), and to the
Christian God YHWH itself, that her grandmother was just being figurative and the game
had NOT ended up creating a servant species of science fiction robots as well!!!
"No Grandma... I don't..."
