And then Chris noticed something.
”Bob, you put it on!” she exclaimed.
”Huh?” said Bob. Chris was looking down at his chest. He looked down himself to see the necklace that Chris had warned him not to put on. “Whoa!” he exclaimed. “I guess I just did it without thinking.”
”Well, you’re not turning into a girl, right? As far as I can tell.” Chris squinted at her boyfriend. “Did you feel a tingle when you put it on?”
”Maybe,” Bob replied. “I don’t know.”
”What are you waiting for? Take it off!” exclaimed Chris.
”Okay, okay,” said Bob, as he grabbed hold of the chain and started to lift the necklace. “I just wish I knew what the deal was with this thing.”
Chris saw his eyes widen. He let go, and the necklace settled back around his neck. He smiled at Chris.
”What?” she asked. “What happened?”
”Wish granted,” answered Bob. “I know what the deal is. First person to wear it gets changed into the opposite sex. Second person to wear it gets to make reality-altering wishes about the first person for up to 24 hours.”
”What?!”
”Oh, you know, something like ‘I wish you were a blonde,’” said Bob.
Chris felt a brief tingle run across her scalp. She put her hands to her head and could see, as she pulled her long hair into her field of vision, that she had indeed become a blonde.
”Cool!” said Bob. “Uh, I wish you had bright pink hair.”
Chris felt the tingle again, and saw the hair in her hands quickly change to the unnatural fluorescent shade. “I look like I’m in a Katy Perry video,” she said to Bob, and then, “Hey, my pictures.”
Bob turned to see the pictures hanging on the wall, which showed Chris with pink hair, even the ones from years ago. “Wow, so I guess it really does change reality.”
”So, uh, what do you want to do with me?” Chris asked, a bit nervously.
